Johnson was b. 14 July 1814 in Rockbridge Co., VA, d. 5 Sep 1896 in Clinton Co., TN; this is what is on his tombstone. I have found he is in the 11th Dist. of Knox Co., TN on 2 June 1843. This is the birth date of his firstborn, Jerome Johnson, from Jerome's Civil War records. Also he is in Bearden, 11th Dist., Knox Co. in 1846. He had 4 sons by his first wife and we know nothing about her. George W. and Napoleon Bonapart (twins) born 27 June 1845 and John A. Jr. born 17 Jun 1847.
