Hello Linda, Does this information contain any information on Johnsons that migrated to the Eastern Shore, specifically Sussex and Kent Co, DE. I have been searching in vane for James P. Johnson b. Dec. 1836 in DE. His mother was Nancy (N) born ca. 1799, and I have no idea what his father's name was. He had siblings Robert 1819, Lewis 1820, Eliza A. 1826, Eunice 1829, Rhoda A. 1846 and William 1849. (William may have been a grandson?) James married Mary J. (N) ca 1855. She was born in July 1827. According to the census, she had two children by that time presumably by a previous marriage. Their names were Ann M. b. 1847 and Joseph H. b. 1852. I have no idea what their surnames were. She and James had two more children James H. b. 1855 and Charlotte A. b. 1858. Charlotte is my great, great grandmother. She married Joseph E. Willey b. Jan 1855 on 11 Mar 1874 in Sussex Co, DE, and they were divorced with Joseph raising the three children by 1900. My great aunt, who knew Charlotte, says she was Delaware Indian, but I have been unable to connect her to the tribes in the area. There is an extensive population Johnsons among the Nanticoke Indians in and around Millsboro, Sussex Co, DE, but I have also been unable to connect to them or the Delaware population in Kent Co, DE. I would really appreciate some guidance even vague to point me in the right direction.
