Hi Lists: I am once again trying to find information out about my elusive Johnston family. Here is a little background on the clan. David Johns(t)on born 1788 in Georgia (according to his will Wilkinson County, Ga but I know better now) by 1838 he is living in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. He married Hanna Frederika Hoffmann in 1840 in Louisiana. (Given the age of David at the time of this marriage, I am almost certain he was married before Hanna; he was 52 and Hanna was 19) They had one son: Alexander Henry Johnston b. Nov. 1841 in Plaquemines Parish, LA. David died in July 1852. David was a riverboat pilot when he lived in Louisiana and belonged to the Pilots Benevolent Association, did Georgia have an occupation like this as well since Savannah was/is a main port?
