I am searching for the family of William Johnson Sr. I believe he was born between 1760 and 1770 in Pennsylvania or Virginia. I have no idea who he married. Although there is a family story, that it could have been a lady by the surname of Ransom. He had a son William Johnson Jr. born about 1808 in Indiana and died before 1880 in Illinois. (m1) 23 Oct. 1828 in Switzerland Co., Indiana to Jerusha Dodge b. 1812 in Maine and died 1858 in Illinois. (m2)01 Sep, 1858 R.I. Co., Illinois to Mrs. Lydia Early. I also know he was a stage driver going by census records. By 1840 he had moved his family to Rock Island Co., Illinois. Their children were: (1) William M. Johnson b. Sep 12, 1837, Indiana m. 27 Oct. 1862 R.I. Co., Illinois to Sarah J. Early. (2) Indiana Susannah Johnson b. 1840 Illinois d. 01 Dec. 1913 El Reno, Oklahoma. She married Alexander W. McGregor 14 Jan. 1858 in R.I. Co., Illinois. (3) William Ransom Johnson b. Aug 22, 1844 Edgington, R.I. Co., Illinois d. 12 Sep. 1918, Illinois. (m1). 27 Feb. 1869 in Ri.I.
