My Johnson family migrated about in the 1820's on Down to McMinn Co., TN --then in about 1840 moved over to Bradley Co., TN where they stay until they died. Just know that these two children Daniel born ABT. 1818 in NC and his brother Joel in 1814 in NC. Trying to find out who their parents were. Found a Daniel Johnson family on the 1800 Census report to be over 45 and the same with his wife. Then there was a Joel Johnson family which I figure is Daniel's son in the 10-25 year old age group and a female in the 26-through 44 age group. It shows that in the Joel Johnson household there are two children under two. In his father's household or I believe it is his father who is in the 45 and over age category and the mother the same 45 and over and they have several children. How can I find out their wives names and their children's names. I do not have the census that would tell about Daniel born in 1818 and Joel born in 1814. We know they traveled in large family groups. Then in a census of McMinn Co., TN it shows a Joel Johnson-listed as 50-6- years old with another member of his family-probably his wife. In the 1840 census it lists Joel as 6-7- years old and an older female living with him. The # of the census was MC 120. Then is list Daniel and Joel as grown ups and married. Mc111 that was for Daniel and the same # for Joel as 30-40 years old and having a male child at home. We know who this male child is. Albert Larkin Johnson. So Daniel and his wife moved to Bradley Co., in ABT. 1840 with his wife Margaret Brannon and they had all their children there. Joel and his wife Elizabeth ? Had all their children in McMinn Co., TN then moved over to Bradley Co., TN ABT. 1850--where they all stay and died there accept for one child a Joel Erie Johnson and his wife Isabell Triplett moved to McMinn Co. TN in about 1868. If you can find this family in NC or point me in another direction I sure would appreciate it. My last uncle is 75 and would like to find this out before he dies. Linda, Noted your Albert Larkin Johnson. Larkin is a name that is also found in my Johnson family kin. A little background: There were four brother, Thomas, Stephen, James and William, all of Halifax County, Virginia, who went westward and settled in Tennessee by 1800. Thomas, James and Stephen (my ancestor) settled in Hawkins County while William settled in Jefferson County. Thomas had a son named Larkin (b c1788) , and a grandson (through son Sanford) named Larkin (born c1828 in Hawkins County), and a second grandson (through son James) also named Larkin (born c1839 in Grainger County). While I don't see a Daniel listed as a name for any of the children or grandchildren of the four brother, it must be noted that Thomas Johnson's father-in-law was Daniel Hutcheson. I don't see Joel listed as a name for any of the children or grandchildren either.
