Its been a while since I've posted my tree, but I read all the emails that come thru.......or scan them for the names I have. Which sadly is not many :) I am looking for my Great Grandfather's parents & any other info. on them..... All I know is........ James Samuel Johnson wife Nancy Worth(y) no dates no nothing, other than they were in Mo. & might have been in Illinois Children: My great grandpa: James Jefferson Johnson "Jeff" born. 1865 Tipton, Moniteau Co., Mo. d. 1943 Chelsea, Okla. he was first married to Georgia A. ? they divorced in Pawhuska, Okla. in 1898 supposedly had 2 kids, a boy & a girl. then he married Martha Jane "Mattie" Phariss in 1899 (I might have the years off) they had 11 kids & 1 foster son, they married in Pryor Creek, Okla. James' brother: William Ballard Johnson b. 1870 Illinois d. 1915 unknown. Story goes that James Jefferson was dumped on the side of the road at 12 or 16 as his parents decided he was old enough to take care of himself so he disowned his parents from that point on. And let me tell ya.....he hasn't listed them anywhere. The names were given to my dad by his grandma (Martha Jane).And she relayed the story to him. Now according to his daughter's (1 still alive) he had a couple of sister's along with a brother, but I haven't been able to verify it. His daughter's said that his sister's had the same names as they did. Its possible......but no one has been able to verify it at all & I haven't found any other proof. Now on his first marriage....based on his divorce journal decree it leads me to believe that she might have been Kaw or Pawhuska, Indian & another cousin said she remembered a brown skinned mean lady. But I don't believe in that as no one knew that he had been married....at least not that they admitted. James Jefferson's son from his second marriage Floyd Allen Johnson went by Cotton was said (by his daughter) to have been in contact with one of the kids from the first marriage. No one will share anymore info. about them (I think mainly because those I'm asking don't have a clue as to whom I am). I have info. on the second marriage & children, but nothing on the first marriage/kids & nothing on his immediate family. James Jefferson Johnson also served in the Spanish American War (I have some info. on that) his "emergency" contact was Mrs. Rogers Alli :)

My eldest Johnson ancestor is James Johnson. Who were his parents: don't know! When and where was he born: don't know! What do I know: -- through DNA, he is not a descendant of the Michael Johnson (d1718) line, but I still read Tony's posts. Am eliminating others as I go through the Johnson FTDNA website. -- he, or at least some of his family, lived for a time in Halifax County, Virginia, where a few of them were married. -- he died in 1810 in Wilson County, Tennessee. His children settled in the Hawkins County and Wilson County areas of Tennessee.
