    3. SWISS NAMING PATTERNS: The Swiss used naming patterns and these naming patterns continued at least through the first generation of emigrants to PA. Using one of the simple prescribed naming patterns, it is expected the person will be named Ulrich or a variation of that name. Using one of the most common patterns, Abraham Flury named his oldest son Ulrich after the grandfather, the second son Jacob after his father and his third son Abraham after himself. Abraham's uncle Franz Flury also had a son named Ulrich. Even Abraham's sons continued to use this naming pattern. These people did not give their children just any name. But rather the first generation continued to name them according to the customs in the old country. . . There were sometimes simple and sometimes rather complicated naming customs. . . (PROF. DR. W.
