    3. Hi John, I have been watching your posts because your times and dates of Johnson ancestors were close to mine, and if this Joshua Johnson in Baker County is yours, we are researching lines of the same family. I have more information on this Joshua Johnson and his family. I'll post some of it below, and you can let me know if this looks like your family -- I have more info on him. I am a descendant of Joshua's brother David. Joshua Johnson was born October 9, 1791 in North Carolina, died after Jun 13, 1863 in Early County, GA. He married Candis (Candice) Reeves about 1815 in Horry County, SC. She is the daughter of Mark Reaves and Spicey Smith. She was born 1795 in NC, but her family was in Horry Co. SC also. They had the following children: Spicy Ann Johnson b. 1816 Ann S. Johnson Helen Johnson Mary Johnson m. Charles DUKE Parizade (Zade) Johnson Thomas Gardner Johnson 1829-ca. 1891 Daniel A. Johnson b. abt 1832 William T. Johnson b. abt 1835 Samuel A. Johnson b. abt 1838 George Johnson b. about 1840, died during the civil war or shortly after Joshua is shown in his father's household (Joshua Johnson, SR.) in Horry County SC in 1810. Joshua and Candis are in their own household in Horry Co. in 1820, in Bibb Co. GA in 1830 and 1840, and then in Baker Co GA in 1850 and Early County GA in 1860. Joshua's will as written June 13, 1863 and recorded in Early Co. The 1860 census shows two children Reuben (11) and Virginia (10), who were Joshua's orphaned grandchildren (by daughter Parizade), mentioned in Joshua's will and his brother David's diary. I have a good bit more information on this extended family that I can send if you'd like. This Joshua (Jr.) is one of six sons and three daughters of Joshua Johnson, Sr. who was born in NC and moved to Horry Co. SC between 1800 and 1810. Joshua SR (my brick wall) and his wife died between 1810 and 1820, and at least five of the six sons moved into Georgia. One of the brothers was Jacob Johnson who married Candis Reaves' sister Mary (Polly), so brothers Joshua and Jacob married sisters Candis and Polly. Let me know if you'd like more information. I can either post it on the list, or we can email off-list. Johnson and he was enlisted in Co. G, 17th GA Volunteers. Today I might have had a little more luck. I found a Joshua Johnson on the 1850 census for Baker Co., GA. He has a 15 year old son, William P. I think this might be my gggrandfather. And Joshua Johnson lived about 5 or 6 houses from two of my gggrandmother, Delia Ann Duke Johnson's uncles. No proof yet but strong circumsantial evidence. I will post what I found below. John R.
