My grandfather was Thomas Jefferson Johnson of Wayne Co, W VA & he married my grandmother Victoria America Leigh Porter of Pike Co, KY. They had corresponded & never met until the day they married in 1880 when she was only 15 years old. His father was William Johnson who had married Matilda Willis in 1840's in Lawrence Co, KY. She had been born in Ohio. William had been married before as he had a son Benjamin F Johnson, who married Mary Ann Merrideth. Benjamin's marriage license reads as follows: Benjamin F Johnson, age 34 , widow, from Alexandria, DC, son of William and Matilda Willis, married Mary A Merideth, age 20, of Belmont, Ohio, daughter of David and Mary Merideth on Feb 17, 1861. They were married by Rev R T or R P Johnson. Would really like to know more about William & who his parents & first wife were. Is any of this familliar to anyone?
