James JOHNSON is listed on the first Pendleton Co, KY tax list in 1799 owning 115 acres on S. Licking. In 1808 his wife, Elizabeth JOHNSON 38-48 yrs old, is executor of his estate. They were both probably born in VA. In Pendleton Co KY, they were closely associated with Nelson JOHNSON 1770-185? who was probably James' brother. In the mid-1830's Nelson JOHNSON moved to Lewis Co, MO purchasing BLM land. The family name was variously listed in records as JOHNSON, JOHNSTON & JOHNSTONE. James and Elizabeth JOHNSON were my gr4 grandparents. Known children of James & Elizabeth JOHNSON: Elizabeth JOHNSON, Jr. m. John W.
