Barbara, I don't know where Goochland is but Benjamin Johnson is a familiar name to me. My gr gr gr grandfather was Benjamin Johnson b. 1760. He had a son Benjamin, born 1803 but this Ben married Margaret Murphy (according to what I found). Ben b. 1760 was the son of Griffith Johnson b, 1734. The family lived in Oldtown, Alleghany County, MD. Then in about 1808 or so, most of the sons moved to Harrison County, Ohio. Wouldn't be surprised if your Ben is the son of one of the brothers. Of course as I don't know where Goochland is, maybe there is no connection.
