Anyone out there related to this man? Obituary Report - Ohio Baptist State Convention Annual Report, 1906 Pg. 51 Rev. David D. JOHNSON died at the home of his daughter near Jamestown, May 3, 1906, at the age of eighty-nine years and six months. He was born in Hamilton county, Ohio October, 21, 1816. His parents (James JOHNSON and Hannah DEMOSS Johnson)came from Virginia and settled in Belmont county, Ohio, nearly one hundred years ago when the state was a vast wilderness. His father was one of the pioneer Methodist ministers. He was three times married and survived his three wives, and was the father of ten children, seven of whom are still living. He was converted in early life and soon after impressed that it was his duty to enter the Christian ministry. He was ordained as pastor of the Willshire Baptist Church in Van Wert county, in 1850, and subsequently served as pastor of churches in the Auglaize, Mad River and Clinton Association. For twenty years he was a pastor in the Clinton Association. He is spoken of as "a preacher of more than ordinary ability." He officiated at over a thousand marriages and eight hundred funeral services. He has left behind him a record of a useful life full of good deeds. Without any prolonged sickness he peacefully fell asleep in the Lord. At the time of his death he was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in the Clinton Association. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor Rev. N. H. Long and the burial was in the Jamestown cemetery. His first wife was Mahala Wolf of Richland County, Ohio.
