Judge MOORE said it was time to teach ruffians that they had no right to assault policemen who were doing their duty. 10th Federal Court Arrests. Edward JOHNSON, a lawyer, residing at No. 42 Columbia street, was arraigned in the Gates avenue police court this morning on a charge of petty larceny preferred by Mrs. Mary SYNOTT, of 89 Spencer street. The complaint alleges that she gave JOHNSON a power of attorney to collect a bill of $70 against Mary HOGAN. JOHNSON was to receive $15 for collecting the bill. Instead of turning over the amount agreed upon she claims he returned $35. He pleaded guilty and was paroled pending trial. 26th An Orphan's Complaint. She Charges Her Mistress and a Boarder With Cruel Treatment. Pearsalls, L.I. Aug 26 - Some excitement prevails her over the charges made against Mrs. M.A. JOHNSON, who keeps a boarding house, and one of her boarders, George W. MORRIS, who are alleged to have grossly illtreated Lizzie PEARCE, a young orphan. the complaint is made by some of the neighbors, who say they have heard the girl's cries when being punished. Lizzie says in her affidavit that Mr. MORRIS tied her to a chair because she would not answer him when he spoke to her and that Mrs. JOHNSON has habitually whipped her on the slightest provocation. JOHNSON, the colored janitor of the Chapin Collegiate School, at 721 Madison Avenue, was found dead in bed in his room in the basement of the school building yesterday morning. Dr. Henry B.
