I posted this many months ago with no response. Thought I'd try again for the new folks. While watching a video of ROOTS, I noted that the overseer of the plantation was George JOHNSON and his wife Martha. This would have been in 1864 in North Carolina. Also scribbled on my note is the word Ethan. I think that was Martha's last name. I don't know if George & Martha JOHNSON are real people or if the names were just made up to be used in ROOTS.
