    3. I have gotten my JOHNSON line back to JOSEPH JOHNSON, born abt. 1820 in N.C. and died after 1880 in Texas. He was married to MARTHA BRYANT. Martha's parents were JAMES BRYANT, brother to BENJAMIN FRANKLIN BRYANT, the Indian agent in Bryant Station, Texas where he built a fort to protect settlers from the hostile indians in the area. There is also a cementery there where Bryant Station used to be. It was bypassed by the raileroad so the town died. Benjamin Franklin Bryant's wife was a sister to James Bryant's wife, Mary {Polly}Price. We think that Joseph and Martha Bryant Johnson are buried at a cementery called Sandy Point in Bell or Milam County, Texas. JOSEPH JOHNSON served in the Civil War from Milam County, Texas with the TEXAS STATE TROOPS, CSA 27th Battalion along with his son, REDDEN H. JOHNSON, my GG Grandfather. We had also heard that another son, BENJAMIN JOHNSON also served in the Civil War and was possibly killed. These are the children that I know of for JOSEPH JOHNSON and his wife, MARTHA BRYANT JOHNSON: 1. Redden Hezekiah or Harrison Johnson--born Aug. 26, 1845 in N.C. {possibly Raleigh or in that area}Redden died on Sept. 7, 1935 in or near Raleigh, N.C. He had gone back to visit his son, Francis Marion Johnson after his wife died and stayed up there and remarried a lady named Minnie Moore. REDDEN H. JOHNSON was married to CECILA ANN FORTENBERRY who had been married before to Henry B. Miller before the Civil War and during that time. Henry died, probably in the war and Cecila Ann married Redden right after the war. Redden and Cecila Ann Johnson are my Great Great Grandparents. 2. MCGILLRIE JOHNSON {CALLED MC}born Jan. 25, 1856 and married to a Mattie. 3. ARCHIBALD {called Asa}JOHNSON--born 1848 and married my great grandmother's sister, ELMIRA LITTLE {She was called {MINIE}. She had a twin sister named Elvina Little called Vinie. They were the children of Richard Newman Little. 4. MARY JOHNSON--born abt. 1851 5. ELIZABETH {BETTIE}JOHNSON--born July 11, 1843. She married LOUIS B. TIPPIT in 1871 in Bell Co., Texas and Bettie died on Jan. 29, 1894. Her husband, Louis B. Tippit broke horses for the stage line in Buckholts, Texas in Milam County and was killed doing this on Oct. 5, 1885. After Bettie died, her brother, Redden, took in her two younger daughters and finished raising them. They worked at the Hotel in Buckholts with Redden's wife who ran the hotel. 6.GEORGIA CASSANNA JOHNSON--born abt. 1845 and maried J.W. {Buck}Springer. After Georgia died, Buck married her niece who was named after her, Georgia Tippit. Georgia Cassanna died before 1892. 7. BENJAMIN JOHNSON-born abt. 1842. He was the oldest son. We don't know much about him, but would like to know more about him. My great grandfather, WILLIAM BENJAMIN JOHNSON was evidently named after his uncle, Benjamin Johnson, the son of Joseph Johnson. REDDEN H. JOHNSON AND CECILA ANN FORTENBERRY JOHNSON'S CHILDREN WERE: 1. William Benjamin Johnson--born Jan. 18, 1867 in Texas. He married MARY SUSANNA {MAMIE}SALINA LITTLE on Aug. 8, 1895 near Buckholts, Texas at her parents home. Ben died on Jan. 7, 1902 of thyphid fever and pneumonia just 5 days after his only son was born. Ben is my great grandfather. 2. Joseph L. Johnson--born abt. 1870 in Texas. He died when 13 years old on Feb. 12, 1883 abt. Ben and Joseph {brothers} are buried at the Bryant Station cementery in Milam County, Texas. 3. Francis Marion Johnson-born Feb. 22, 1871 in Texas. He was married first to Maglene and then to Rosa Jane Eure in N.C. when he moved back there. Francis was the druggist in Buckholts, Texas. He died on Nov. 6, 1936 in Bethel, N.C. Pitt County. 4. MARY VIRGINIA {MOLLIE}JOHNSON--born Oct. 9, 1874 in Texas. She was married twice, first to Curtis Alexander {Bud}Pollock and then to Frank Yaws. Mollie died on Sept. 16, 1964 in Wichita Falls, Texas. 5. MARTHA ELIZABETH JOHNSON--born Aug. 19, 1876 in Texas. She was married to the town doctor in Buckholts, Texas, a Dr. Theo Meissner. I don't know much about her but would like to find out more and possibly find her descendants. This is my JOHNSON line as far back as I can go right now. Hope that someone else is also related to this family of Johnsons from North Carolina and Milam County, Texas. Jane Little McEndree janemc@airmail.net
