    3. http://www.brianmiller.freeserve.co.uk ***************************** Hi all. This goes out to the more experienced in the field of family history research, or maybe not. My hunch is this. My gg grandfather Wheatley Gray JOHNSON born 1850 in Cramlington, baptised St Andrews Newcastle upon Tyne. The christian name Wheatley is unusual, so I thought it easy to check out, and so it was. There was only one Wheatley in the IGI of Northumberland and Durham. However the surname was not JOHNSON, but GRAY. Would it be safe to assume that Wheatley GRAY born 1796 in Lanchester to John & Elizabeth GRAY, is the grandfather of Wheatey Gray JOHNSON b 1850. _____________________________________ FACTS THAT I HAVE. Joseph JOHNSON/Elizabeth parents of Wheatley Gray JOHNSON 1850 Cramlington.Bat 1850 St Andrews Newcastle. _____________________________________ THE GUESS WORK My thoughts were as follows: My rule of thumb is four generations per 100 years. Although many others have their own thoughts. John GRAY married Elizabeth ? circa 1795. Wheatley GRAY born Oct 2, 1796 Lanchester. Wheatley GRAY marries ? circa 1820/25 Wheatley GRAY has daughter called Elizabeth GRAY. circa 1825 Elizabeth GRAY marries Joseph JOHNSON circa 1845 Their second child is named Wheatley Gray JOHNSON, and takes the name of his grandfather which was common of that day I am told. Does the list think my guess work way off the mark, or do you think I'm on the correct track. Very best regards Brian Miller, IBSSG. __________________________________ Information on the following at the above site: AKENHEAD - ARKLE - CAMPBELL - CLARKE - COXON - GRAY - HALL - HEDLEY - JOHNSON - MILLARD - MILLER - MONK - MURRAY - PARHAM - REAHEAD - STEWARD - STOREY - WATSON - WRIGHT __________________________________
