David Johnson died in Cape Girardeau County MO in 1823. Wife Margaret. Sons Jonathan, Ransom, Constant, Davis, Noble, William. Daughters Willey Elmey and Sarah. My gggp Noble was married to Margarette Pinkerton in Perry County MO in 1829. They had several children in the 1830 census some old enough to have been born about 1814-1816. Noble was born in 1796, Margarette in 1806. That all points to a first wife, who was she? Or were these children orphans from Jonathan (and Mary) who died in 1830 and William who died a few years earlier? Davis and William were married in Christian County KY in 1808-1809. I think the family group was together for the 1810 Christian County KY census. David and wife, plus Davis and wife and William and wife joined the Bethel Baptist church at Jackson MO in 1812. At the first Bethel Baptist Associating meeting about 1815 or '16, Jonathan and William were messengers from the Turkey or Dry Creek Church (in what is now Bollinger County. Noble and Davis were messengers to the St. Francis Baptist Association representing the Little Vine Church (Madison Co. MO) from its founding in 1850 through 1863. During that time Davis's son Joseph D. was also at the association meetings and eventually was ordained a Baptist preacher. Davis in the 1850 census said he was born in SC. Noble said the same, but ten years later (but only 8 years older) Noble said NC. There were about 18 David Johnsons in the two Carolina 1790 census. The David Johnson of Lancaster Co SC stayed there (also had no children) to become governor of SC about 1840 so that one is eliminated. What I don't know is where in NC or SC the family stayed, or if they stay in one place? Then who is Margaret, wife of David? And who are their parents? Gerald J.
