My brick wall is a Jessie Johnson, born around 1855 in Texas. He was mullatto, the son of a slave and an Irish slave owner. In 1873 he married Mary Jane Massie in Frelsburg, Colorado, Texas and had several children there. They later settled in Fort Worth, Tarrant, Texas around 1900. Their son-Van Lawrence Johnson, Sr--was my husbands grandfather. I have been trying to obtain information on Jessie for over 5 years without success.
