Hi! Summer is here and the list seems really slow, so why don't we take this time to post our MOST WANTED or BRICK WALL ancestor? Mine difficult Johnson was in the North Northumberland area and in a village with 6 of the same name , time 1750's, looking for William's and James's I should also have time this some to do searches of the database for anyone that needs some help. Everything I come across that is Johnson/Johnston/Johnstone related goes into the databse, plus anything from the newsletter. Any search of the database, please email me off list. Lets hope we find some of or problem ancestors regards Linda Becky
My brick wall is John JOHNSON b.1790 Pennsylvania md 1811 to Barbara HUNT b. 1788 Maryland. They lived in Springhill twp, Fayette Co Pa in 1831. I found them on the taxlist there. I don't know where they were married or where they lived prior to that year. I think they may be the Johnston family that is in Westmoreland Co in 1830, but I have no proof of this at this time. The JOHNSON'S moved to Jay Co Indiana by 1846. Barbara and her younger children are on the 1850 census there. I am not sure if John died in Pennsylvania prior to the move, or along the way, or in Ind after they arrived. There is no land records or guardianship records in Jay Co. Ind. for them. John's mother was Mary (nee?) b. 1763 d 1835 md to Mr (unknown) Johnson. The last four children married in Jay Co. Ind. Children: Sarah (md John FRANK/S), Thomas B. (md Catherine FRANKENBERGER). John Jr (md Mary LANCASTER), Mary (md Robert GIBSON), Elizabeth (md David JONES), Ann (died a baby), Huldah (md Tret? CRAGO), Catherine (md Joseph BENNETT), Rachel (md Adam KIMBLE/KIMBALL), Elisha Garfield (md Vesta FULLER & Sarah WATSON), & Benjamin R. (md Emeline BENNETT). Thomas B. died in Springhill twp, Fayette Co Pa....John Jr, Mary, & Huldah may have staid in the Fayette co area. Sarah & Elizabeth brought their families to Indiana. Some of these children and descendants came into Wisconsin in the early 1860's. Thanks, Selma
