My Levi dates back to mid to late 1700's. I am aware of the Levi you mentioned and have researched this avenue, I did not mention it as I was not wanting to give you information overload on my first message.. Tarleton Johnson also had a brother named Levi Johnson. Mike on an earlier message mentioned our descendants attending the same church, both Levi, Sr and Levi, Jr. attended the same church early on and then if I remember correctly left the church...I would assume to either move to another area or to another church. I believe I also tracked my Levi Johnson, Jr to Randolph county area....I will need to do some digging in my files to come up with the information. How again are you connected into this group? Believe me this group is very hard to trace and it does not seem anyone has been able to do it yet. I did find someone in Randolph county that also has a connection into levi Johnson, but I have not been able to find anyone today that is surviving to talk with yet. I will be in touch with some additional information Janie > From: Lt28Ret@aol.com> Date: Wed, 17 Oct 2007 11:11:38 -0400> To: johnson@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [JOHNSON] John Johnson Family - Pennsylvania to North Carolina, mid 1700s> > This past week I saw some info on a Levi Johnson in Surry Co., NC can't > remember what it was. might try ancestry.com in Surry Co.,nc> there was also a Levi Johnson m. I am interested in the family of John Johnson and wife, Elizabeth - Pennsylvania Quakers who came from Chester Co., Pennsylvania to Orange / Chatham Co., North Carolina in the middle 1700s. This couple had atleast three sons, Levi, Jesse and John Jr. Jesse married Hannah Hadley and Levi married Amy ? I am interested in learning what became of John Jr. I theorize that he may be my ancestor who was in Green Co., Kentucky in the early 1800s, but I need proof. My brick wall is a unknown JOHNSON family moved from an unknown city in VA supposedly due to slavery disputes and had a son Samuel Monroe JOHNSON born in an unknown city in Ohio January 21, 1820. With so little info it has been almost impossible to trace the ancestry. Anyone have any idea's for me. My ancestor, Mary Ann Johnson was born in Virginia in 1828. She was married to William Henry White in Pike Co., Mo. January 16, 1845. I have not yet identified her parents. There were several Johnston/Johnson families living in Pike and Lincoln Co. I will not ever find her listed by name with her parents on a census record, because she was married prior to 1850 when all persons in household were identified by name. Is there anyone else on this list who is researching Missouri Johnsons from Virginia? Helen Sorrell ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

Missouri by 1812 having lived in Christian Co KY during the period 1806 to 1810 and maybe in Logan Co KY before that. Some of the children of David and Margaret show being born in NC, some in SC, one shows both in different census and some died before that question was on the census form. We have found Davids and Margarets near each other in Virginia in the right time period but we have no paper trail connecting them to those we know about. Its logical for Johnsons in Virginia in colonial times to have moved to the Carolinas and then to Kentucky on their way to Missouri so we are SURE interested in Virginia Johnsons. Others of my ancestors in Missouri there even before the Johnsons landed in Pennsylvania, then moved to North Carolina before moving to Missouri. Others that arrived in Missouri later (1856 or so) followed that same path. All we can say is that there were roads from Pennsylvania to Virginia and to the Carolinas in colonial times and as the west (just over the Appalachians and further west) opened the early traffic on those roads turned west. So searching in Virginia is logical, but ours were in Missouri too early to have a known connection to Mary Ann but we don't know enough to be able to say she's not kin through other kin that didn't move west as fast. Family Tree Maker also has this - click "tools", then "Relationship Calculator", then select the individuals your checking on, then click on "Calculate" and it will give the closest blood relationship, for instance, the connection with my wife and I shows that we are "7th cousins, once removed." Clicking on "Reports" then "Kinship Report" with show all connections from the primary individual you select to everyone in your file, but this report may take awhile to build if you have a large number of people in your file. I wouldn't say that I am researching them exactly. But I am interested in them. Our Johnsons were "said" to come from Goochland area. Have not found a connecting link yet. My Johnsons are still in various counties of Tenn and Ala.
