Would you happen to have "Almarinda Susan Johnson", born appx. 1830, possibly North Carolina. Also, she may have used "Susan" as her immediate name. I can not find any record regarding her Mother, Father or siblings. Your time and consideration is greatly appreciated. I don't suppose anyone out there is researching the Johnson name in Connecticut, the Waterford/New London County area to be exact. I am looking for the family of a James (James W.) Johnson. He was born in 1820, probably in Waterford. On May 26, 1844 he married Hannah Lester Beebe at the First Baptist Church, Waterford, and he died October 14, 1915, also in Waterford, at the age of 95. I have both the marriage record and the death certificate, but his parents are not listed. I have not been able to find his birth records. Hannah is easy, as she came from a very distinguished family. Several times over the years (before she passed on), my grandmother told me she had seen a document which stated that James Johnson was a "bound boy". This was a fairly common practice in New England; families of lesser means would do this so that their children might learn a valuable trade. James became a stonemason. My grandmother had also told me that Hannah's parents opposed the marriage, because she was marrying beneath her station. Well, they were married for 55 years until Hannah's death on July 15, 1899. They had three children: Annie, Alonzo Mortimer, and Louise. Alonzo Mortimer Johnson was my great great grandfather. I don't know about Annie, but Louise married Elias Bishop and had two sons, and Alonzo married Annie Maria Greenfield, and had two sons and a daughter. -Pat. Wary

Tony, I am searching for any information on a Francis Marion Johnson ,origanally from N. Car. Sorry don't know which county. His grandchildren knew him as "Landrum". His wife Lidia -? was also from N. Car. Their children were born in Fannin Co. Ga.during the late 1850s or 60s. Am trying to find his parents. Don't know whether his father was in Rev. war or not. Would appreciate any information. Ginny Garrett ginco@eriecoast.com
Tony, If you have finished all your revolutionary war Johnsons in Virginia and N.C., perhaps you can help me. Per the book, "Pebble Hill, the Story of a Plantation", my James Johnson, b.1753, was "a captain in a rev war company from Lunenbourg county". "His first wife, Elizabeth, died at birth of first child and she and child are buried in Virginia." His second wife was Martha Summerlin Colson and their first child Barbara Johnson m. Richard Thomas, who came from Union Co., SC. 1850 census record states Barbara was born in S. Carolina about 1788. Son, Thomas Jefferson Johnson was born 1/17/1793. Then all moved to Georgia. When I sent in the above requested record on James Johnson (captain, Lunenburg), DAR told me I have the wrong James Johnson. There are several James Johnsons who served in the Revolution and I am nowhere near Virginia to search for which James Johnson had a wife, Eliz, and moved to S.C. I have emailed, called and written the author of the book to ask for ! his sources for the Rev. war service, but received no reply. Any possibilities? I have found a William Johnson in the Orangeburg co SC 1810 cencus he is next to a Busby and a Hartley, he has a son that is in the right age bracket of my ggg-grandfather who later married Lillian Busby. Does anyone have information on this Johnson? Thanks Sandra
Nancy If you have a County or a Creek they lived on that would help, other things that help that I can cross reference. What year of census was he in and who did he live beside in the census. Can you determine his approx. age in the Cenus or was he born before 1776. Place known information on the Creek and land deeds in an inquiry: reason Family followed family into the New Wilderness area. And many times County Lines and State lines changed during certain time periods. Trace the Creek your family lived on and establish a time line on where the Creek was at ( In other words This will give you where these folks filed their Deeds at and in what County to look in during a certain time period) Also establish a Travel Pattern on the people that surrounded him. Look at the date deeds were filed as if they were filed in a 3 day period most of these folks traveled together to get where they were going. Find out everything you can about the neighbors as to know them is to know your Kinsman. tony ----- Original Message ----- From: nancy johnson smith<mailto:fnhjsmith@juno.com> To: johnson@rootsweb.com<mailto:johnson@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 26, 2007 7:43 AM Subject: Re: [JOHNSON] JOHNSON'S, JOHNSON'S, AND MORE JOHNSON'S tony my johnsons are from north carolona william filo johnson s/o samuel johnson thanks nancy www.john-paul-smith.memory-of.com<http://www.john-paul-smith.memory-of.com/> THAT THEIR LIGHT WILL ALWAYS SHINE ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to JOHNSON-request@rootsweb.com<mailto:JOHNSON-request@rootsweb.com> with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Sandra Never a dumb question. Answer I do not have a HOME Page for me: I answer each question and respond to it individuals. We are several groups of Johnson- Johnston-Jonson-Johnstone researchers documenting and collecting ever document we find. on this Surname in Virginia and NC. There are those that are sharing research that do have home Pages. One person goes thru many eliminations trying to find their right connections. We eliminate research that is of no value to us but to another it might be, so we share this information that we find. It is sent to me for referencing and cross referencing and I send out updated Files to the whole group of researchers sharing information. Where established DNA lines have been documented they have been assigned a color for their Different DNA on these surnames.
