Hi, I'm new to the list. I'm researching Daniel Johnson, b. Feb 14, 1789 in NC. Daniel was married 3 times. His third wife was Mary Lynn, d/o Asa Lynn and Elizabeth Hawkins. He was a Lutheran preacher sent by the supportive Swedish Crown long about 1750. According to his roster there were at least three families named Jonsson. I've not found any connections to them from my Johnsons who were in western Kentucky long about 1808-1812 and in SE Missouri since 1812. Amandus was fairly grumble about how the younger generations had forgotten most of their Swedish heritage and language and had mixed in with the "local" English. I would appreciate any informatin about Joshua Johnson, b. abt. 1840; my g g grandfather. He married Nancy ? Their children were: Benjamin b. 1867; Ezekiel, b. 1869; Mary, b. 1872; William, b. 1874; Eliza, b.1877. They are listed on the 1880 Lafayette cnty, Ark. census. Hello List--I read with interest Babrara Tillery's question concerning George Johnson of Lamar Co Alabama. There were scads of Johnsons there. If anyone else has Lamar Co ALA roots--Johnson or any other name for that mater, I'ed like to hear from you. If Johnson, you might reply to the list--any other name please reply privately. I researching William Hickman Johnson b ca 1810 whose son, Joel F(?) Johnson married Louella Hake in Laclede County, MO. Both are buried in Laclede County. William Hickman Johnson's father may have been Craven Johnson born in MD ca 1755 and may have married Polly Lowe? He and a brother Kinsey lived mostly in TN where they surveyed and traded in land. Craven's children are believed to be Joel Johnson 1800-1889 (Died in Henry County, Iowa, William Hickman Johnson, Olman Johnson, Nancy Johnson married a Scott, and Rachel Johnson married a Laughery. Ruby and all Johnston County OKlahoma was named for Douglas Hancook Cooper Johnston, the last Governor of the Chickasaw Nation whose capitol was Tishamingo. D H C Johnston was the son of (Col.) John Johnston and Mary Cheadle (3/4 quarter Chickasaw) Col. John Johnston ( b. about 1775) was the son of John Johnston and Joyce Powell of what is now Washington Co. Alabama. According to family tradition Col. Johnston "escorted" the Chickasaw to Oklahoma from Alabama. He never returned to Alabama but married Mary and stayed in OK. He died in 1865 and is buried in the Indian cemetery in Fort Washita, Johnston County, OK. His is the only marked grave in a beautiful meadow surrounded by a low rock fence. Children of Col. Did the book on Johnson's in Delaware....possibly mention a ROBERT JOHNSON....maybe even as a child? I am looking for the birth location of ISAAC JOHNSON b. 1779 d. 1826 in Knox Co. Tenn..... His headstone reads..... "(Son of Robert)"; as well as any ancestrial information on ROBERT JOHNSON. My earliest records show his son, ISAAC in Tenn..... confident for the date 1825. ((Robert's grandson's obituary - Lorenzo Dow Johnson says that he passed in the house he was born in..... so we place Isaac there in 1825. The property carries the family graveplots.... to date ---- I have yet, to see them - but, I have been sent the engravings)) The gravesites show that ISAAC was 'matched' with JENNIE..... as her headstone reads "Consort of Isaac" and adjecent graves of children read: "dau. (or son) of Isaac and Jennie". (( We speculate that "Jennie" may be a derivative of Jennetta.... no known surname for her )) Known Children of Isaac and Jennie ((all are buried in family plot in Knoxville, TN)) Robert b. Feb. 17, 1803 d. July 10, 1859 Larkin E. b. Dec. 23, 1812 d. Jan. 11, 1847 Catherine b. Dec. 18, 1818 d. Jan. 5, 1881 Lorenzo Dow b. Feb. 16, 1825 d. Sept. 14, 1899 .......married 1st Feb. 26. 1846 to Mary Emaline WILHITE b. Dec. 13, 1826 d. Nov. 6, 1886 (dau. of James WILHITE and Comfort STANSBURY).... Lorenzo's wife is also interred at the family plot. Her father James WILHITE is interred only a few miles away at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery --- the resting place of her mother is unknown, but speculated that she may have been returned to Caswell County, N. The book I referred to was about Swedish in Delaware, and included a roster. I don't remember who they were, but the roster dated from the mid 1600s to would have been before the father of Isaac Johnson, maybe a century. Without a lot more information its hard to jump that many generations. Gerald J.

I've looked in Delaware a little, mostly by reading "The Swedish settlements on the Delaware, 1638-1664" by Amandus Johnson. He was a Lutheran preacher sent by the supportive Swedish Crown long about 1750. According to his roster there were at least three families named Jonsson. I've not found any connections to them from my Johnsons who were in western Kentucky long about 1808-1812 and in SE Missouri since 1812. Amandus was fairly grumble about how the younger generations had forgotten most of their Swedish heritage and language and had mixed in with the "local" English. I found a couple other books on that settlement, but were not as genealogically useful as this book. Gerald J.
