I just got more info on my lost Johnsons of Arkansas. My Johnsons are Orion Johnson Sr. b. dec 24 1904 d. 1970 m. Zelda Tarwater. They lived in Little Rock, Arkansas for many years. Orion's siblings were: Rebecca, Minnie Lee, Alice, Jim, Coley, and Doss? who was killed in a gunfight. Orion's dad was William Sydney Johnson b. abt. 1882? d. abt. 1952? m. Minnie Valentine Roland b. abt. 1883 d. abt 1953. William had a brother named James. They homesteaded in Etowah, Arkansas in the NE corner of the state. They were originally from Mississippi. Hi Jamie, Finally...a JOHNSON posting that I think I can link to mine! My ggmother was Laura JOHNSON (1887-1929) of Greene Co., TN. Her father was Randolph Jesse JOHNSON (1869-1956), died in Greene Co., TN. Randolph's father was Rev. William Henry Johnson (1847-1927), died in Greene Co., TN. Rev. Henry's father was Richard JOHNSON, no birth/death dates/locations. It is said that Richard married again late in life and moved to VA and lost contact with family in TN. Rev. Henry had a sister Melissa and two brothers Vince and Will Robert. Rev. Henry had three wives: first is unknown and the mother of Randolph and Jim; second in Sarah Elizabeth ROSS and mother of Jennie, Sarah, Emmaline, David, Sam, Andy; third wife was Mary STONE. I was told that my JOHNSON's came from NC but haven't been able to establish that yet as I have just ordered the death cert. for Rev. Henry. Still trying to find info on my great grandfather, Harrold J. Johnson. No one knows where he was born, but was in Bradley Co, AR in 1870. We think he died there, but no proof. Hi, I am looking for information on the ancestors of Alexander H. Johnson from Cocke County, TN. Alexander's father was Henry Johnson (b. abt 1846 in Eastern Tennessee - county unknown) and his grandfather was Richard M. Johnson from North Carolina (b. abt 1799 county unknown) Richard married Betsy ?? (b. abt 1806 in NC - county unknown). They had several children in NC and moved to TN sometime between 1840 and 1843. They show up in the 1850 Cocke County TN Census. Richard and Betsy's son Henry (b. abt 1846 in TN) married a Margaret Carver (birth date and location unknown). I believe that Henry was living in Cocke Co. in 1880 but I have not been able to lay my hands on the Census record yet. The only child of Henry and Margaret that I know of yet is my ggrandfather Alexander Johnson. I am looking for any information on Richard and Betsy (especially Betsy's maiden name) and any information on Henry and Margaret Carver. I am sure that my ggrandfather was *not* an only child. Hi, I am looking for information on a Jacob Johnson born in PA date unknown but prior to 1800. It is possible that he may be the son of a Jacob Johnson. My Jacob Johnson apparently moved to VA and was there around 1817 to aprox 1830 give or take a year or two. Possible sons would be William Johnson b. 1824 and James E. Johnson b. 1817/1824 and possibly another William born 1828. Now I know it seems weird that there might be two brothers named William but as I have seen one woman name her sons John, Johnny, and Johnathan it is possible and as one of the William's above had a daughter that named her child Johnathan P. when her husband already had a child named Johnathan P. by his 1st marriage, I am open minded about the two William's also they are listed in the same household in the 1850 Pike co. KY census. All three men are in the same house. I cannot find the William's after 1850 but have found that James E. changed his name to Johnston and was located in Howell co. MO in 1870 census where he list his father as being born in PA. According to the marriage records for the oldest William he is listed as the son of Jacob. So if anyone has a Jacob Johnson born in PA that migrated to VA and then the family moved on to KY would like to share ideas. I am really stuck on this family and need help. Hi! I am looking for information on Henry JOHNSON, b. 1779 in either SC or NC. Married Mary Elizabeth STARR, b. 1779 in NC. Henry moved from NC to Preble Co.
