Dear List, I am seeking the father of John Johnson (b. 1780-90 VA NC or TN) and his older brother, William Johnson (b.same, @1777). I believe their father was from VA, fought in the Rev War, migrated to East TN, raised a large family of boys, lost his land through some title dispute, and "he and some of his family went to north AL where he shortly died of dropsey". The AL migration was @1820. They settled in Jackson, DeKalb & Morgan Co. Believe ?? Johnson and some of his boys had a grist mill in NE AL, grinding corn for themselves and the Indians. John lived "on Sand Mountain". The families of John and William (even though William died 15 Jan 1815 at Battle of New Orleans) migrated to MO in various family groups from 1840 to 1855. Any clue or helpful hint appreciated. I have collected a wealth of info on the families of John & William and have considerable info on their children & descendants. Thank You, Judy Johnson Erickson in TX
Dave Johnson wrote: > > I agree. I'm looking for: > > Rev. David D. Johnson - Jamestown, Greene County, Ohio 1816-1906 > > Dave Johnson > Lima, Ohio > And I'm looking for David Johnson who died in Cape Girardeau Co MO in 1823, was in Christian County KY around 1808 to before 1812, joined the Bethel Baptist Church at Jackson MO in 1812 along with several sons, wife and their wives. A couple sons (William and Davis) were married in CC KY in 1808 or 1809. A daughter (Willey Elmey) married John Baker somewhere in Kentucky a few years earlier. Some of his children say they were born in SC, some say NC some say SC one census, NC the next. Several sons were messengers to Baptist association meetings (Jonathan and William to Bethel in 1816, Davis and my gggp Noble to St. Francis from 1850 through 1863) and Davis' son Joseph D. was ordained. David was married to Margaret at his death. Willey Elmey doesn't appear in the CC KY marriage books. Gerald J.

Hi. I have a major brick wall -- as do most Johnsons. My great grandfather was Henry L. Johnson born abt 1848, married to Christine Spildy (?). Children: Harry Louis Johnson, born 1893 in Decorah, IA; married Mary Bird in Sioux Falls, SD (they had two children, Harry and Clarence) Clarence Sam Nora, married a Mr Fritz in Sioux Falls, SD I also know that they lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at least during the 1920s-1930s and maybe much earlier and later. I met Aunt Nora in 1970 (she was in her 70s), but being 17 years old didn't have the foresight to ask any family questions. I made a trip to Sioux Falls last year to see if Henry and Christine were buried there but came up with nothing on them. Any cousins out there??? Patti Also searching Bird, O'Bryon/O'Brien, McMurray, Smith (two lines), Williams, Crowell, Thomas, Sachs
Does anybody connect with a George JOHNSON, Rev War Vet? Very limited info on this POSSIBLE father to my John JOHNSON, b. 1780-90. My info states John's father was from VA, fought in Rev War, moved to E. TN, raised a large family of boys, lost his land to some sort of title dispute and moved to NE AL @1820. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? I do not know the given name of John's father. One researcher, now deceased, stated his name was George. Thanks, Judy Johnson Erickson in TX

Have been following all of the Johnson postings with great interest. However, I have yet to see my dead end or brick wall. My great grandfather was Samuel L. (unk) Johnson born January 4 1850 and died November 3, 1897. He was in the Lee /Phillips Counties area of Arkansas during the 1870's thru his death and is buried in the Oak Forrest Cemetary in Lee County, Arkansas. He married Nancy Anne Jeffcoat and had 3 children: Cora, Floyd and Elizabeth V. (Bessie) Have no further info on Samuel and would love to be able to track his parents, siblings, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. God bless Carolyn Martin Pace scrapper2@mindspring.com
