    3. More on David D. Johnson. If linked, please email me. Thank you.....David Johnson Jamestown Press: May 10, 1906 - The aged Baptist clergyman and old circuit rider, Rev. David D. JOHNSON, died yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robt. FORD in Ross Township (Greene County, Ohio), with whom he had made his home for several weeks. The deceased would have been 90 years of age if he had lived until October, having been born in 1816. The place of his birth was Hamilton county, his parents, James and Hannah Johnson having moved there from Virginia. His father James JOHNSON was a Methodist minister and at the early day of his labors was frequently moved from place to place by his conference. Rev. Johnson's labor in the Baptist ministry covered a wide field, being ordained in Richland, County, and this worthy couple raised a family of ten children, several of whom are living. One son sacrificed his life to his country in the Civil War.

    3. Anyone out there related to this man? Obituary Report - Ohio Baptist State Convention Annual Report, 1906 Pg. 51 Rev. David D. JOHNSON died at the home of his daughter near Jamestown, May 3, 1906, at the age of eighty-nine years and six months. He was born in Hamilton county, Ohio October, 21, 1816. His parents (James JOHNSON and Hannah DEMOSS Johnson)came from Virginia and settled in Belmont county, Ohio, nearly one hundred years ago when the state was a vast wilderness. His father was one of the pioneer Methodist ministers. He was three times married and survived his three wives, and was the father of ten children, seven of whom are still living. He was converted in early life and soon after impressed that it was his duty to enter the Christian ministry. He was ordained as pastor of the Willshire Baptist Church in Van Wert county, in 1850, and subsequently served as pastor of churches in the Auglaize, Mad River and Clinton Association. For twenty years he was a pastor in the Clinton Association. He is spoken of as "a preacher of more than ordinary ability." He officiated at over a thousand marriages and eight hundred funeral services. He has left behind him a record of a useful life full of good deeds. Without any prolonged sickness he peacefully fell asleep in the Lord. At the time of his death he was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in the Clinton Association. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor Rev. N. H. Long and the burial was in the Jamestown cemetery. His first wife was Mahala Wolf of Richland County, Ohio.

    1. [JOHNSON] National Day of Remembrance
    2. What a Great Day This Is. I am hoping all of you will be patient and give me the time to share what many of us have been looking for, for over forty years. Most of you are of the age, that I am sure you will, well ember these names and what took place at that time. While a US Navy Hospitia Corpsman for twenty years, one of my assignments was Operation Greenhouse at Enewitak Atoll in the South Pacific, not to far from Bikini Atoll. And twice, I was at Camp Mercer Nevada for the testing. The following is from Robert L. Campbell, who was on the island of Enewitak at the same time I was on the island of Japtan in the Enewitak Atoll. He has worked for many years for this day. Late yesterday afternoon the United States Senate unanimously passed a resolution submitted by Sen. Olympia J. Snowe (R-Me.) authorizing Sunday, January 16, 2000, the 55th anniversary of the Trinity Test, as a "National Day of Remembrance" honoring veterans exposed to radiation in the line of military duty. The Resolution also called upon the President to issue a Proclamation to that effect, and further states that it is "the sense of the Senate that the VA should take steps to ensure that veterans exposed to radiation in service to their country are awarded the benefits and services they deserve." Terry Brady of Alaska and I were the authors of this project. Senator Snowe's Washington telephone number is 202-224-5344. Please call her and thank her. Please have your friends call her and thank her, and if your friends have friends, have them call as well. Please call your local newspapers, radio stations and television stations. If you see the address list on this communique do not have the email address of an atomic veteran whom you know has one, notify him, too. I intend to spend tomorrow in prayer at my Cathedral. More than anything else this Resolution states that July 16th belongs to us for all time. How we build on it will depend upon our commitment to Justice. Granted we had very short notice for openers, but we now have a year to make the 56th anniversary of Shot Trinity be one helluva megaton event. Thank each and every one of you for your past contributions to our search for justice. Rob Campbell Thank you for your time and patients, I hope this well inform someone who had lost all hope that we would never get our day in court or never have chance for composition as, veterans exposed to radiation. Any questions are welcome, I will answer any and all. Bob and Jean.

    2. Dr. Gerald N. Johnson
    3. I don't know about this particular family, but the few Civil War histories that include Missouri are full of similar events. Much of the war in Missouri was gang action not restricted to the eastern war years. Title: Inside war : the guerrilla conflict in Missouri during the American Civil War / Michael Fellman. Author: Fellman, Michael. Publication Date: 1989. Fellman's book is full of similar reports to yours. McKee, Ivan N. Lost family--lost cause : a story of the McGee family in Wayne County, Missouri during the Civil War years / by Ivan N. McKee. 1978 McKee claims the killings of the McGee family was from jealousy of their wealth, that it was done by military officers, and that those officers had history rewritten after the war to prevent them being considered the hooligans they were. After reading these books about the Civil War in Missouri, its a topic I no longer care to read about. Gerald J.

    1. [JOHNSON] Canaday JOHNSON---MO
    2. Dear List, I have a written story in my records that tell the tale of my relative, Canaday Johnson during the Civil War. He and his family lived for the most part in Dent County MO but for some reason, they came to Howell County MO during a part of the war. One day, the Alsup Gang came to his house and asked his wife where he was. She told them he was "gone". They then went to the nearby (I guess) house of his son, Jimmie, and his wife who was pregnant with her first child. The wife, being young, told this gang where Canaday and Jimmie were working. The story goes that upon finding Canaday and Jimmie, they shot Jimmie in the back of the head, and left him to die. They forced Canaday to lead them through the area to Houston, Texas Co MO. This he did, and they turned him loose a couple of days later. He returned to Howell County and he and a neighbor helped his wife and daughter-in-law bury Jimmy "down by the river in the brush". According to this story, this event took place between North Fork and Willow Springs in Howell Co. MO. Does anybody know anything about this story? I have it from two sources. Would like very much to know the name of the young wife, if she had her child, if she survived the war, etc. Thank you, Judy Johnson Erickson in TX

    2. Does anybody have ANY information on early-day grist mill operations in Northern Alabama? I seek John JOHNSON who "lived on Sand Mountain" and ran a grist mill, grinding mainly corn. My info states that he ground the Indians parched corn at the time they started west (1830's). I will appreciate any type of information on the above paragraph. I show John JOHNSON on 1830 census in Jackson Co AL, but I do not know if this is the location where the grist mill was located. Thank you, Judy in TX
