If anyone can connect with these people I would appreciate any info you might have. Liberty was born in Indiana, but his parents were from Ohio. I think that Garfield JOHNSON is Liberty's brother. Looking for Burwell/Byrrell Johnson from NC and Moved to Maury Co., TN about 1800. He may have had a son Wiley born about 1791 in NC and married Martha Nichols from Williamson Co., Tn in 1819. I found them in Maury Co. from about 1810 till 1880. Wiley Sr. had a son Wiley -- who married Mary Frances Hough/Huff of Williamson Co (parents may be William and Ann Pace Hough/Huff). Wiley Sr. also had a son William who married a Margaret Atkeison. Wiley Jr. born 1844 in Maury Co. and William born in 1849. Some other names that have been listed with them in the census is a Nancy Nellums and Arena Huff. Also, in 1860 Wiley Jr. was living with a James Watkins-wagonmaker. Barbara, We also have a Benjamin Johnston born about 1760 who apparently had a son Benjamin, Jr., although ours ended up in Greenville District, SC in 1785. I have heard of the several Benjamin Johnstons of the Goochland Co., VA area. Ours is actually named Benjamin Ware Johnston. Who are your's sons' names besides Ben, Jr.? Barbara, I don't know where Goochland is but Benjamin Johnson is a familiar name to me. My gr gr gr grandfather was Benjamin Johnson b. 1760. He had a son Benjamin, born 1803 but this Ben married Margaret Murphy (according to what I found). Ben b. 1760 was the son of Griffith Johnson b, 1734. The family lived in Oldtown, Alleghany County, MD. Then in about 1808 or so, most of the sons moved to Harrison County, Ohio. Wouldn't be surprised if your Ben is the son of one of the brothers. Of course as I don't know where Goochland is, maybe there is no connection.
