Hi I am working on connecting all or as many as I can Johnsons of Ky etc. You wouldn't beleive how hard I am working on this. Been throwing out questions for help and it DOES help. Have gotten all kind of offers of how to trace my family tree from well meaning people, I guess I am comming off as an amateur genealogist but I assure you I am not. I have been at this for over 30 years with a lot of time off in the process. I have written books on other lines of my family tree but have not done extensive research on my Johnsons until this past year and have come a long way. Everyone: Gustaf Berger was born to Carl Johan Johansson and Carolina Jaensdatter in Herrestad, Orberga, Sweden in 1879. The family emigrated to MN. Carl and Carolina are buried in Anoka, County, Minnesota. Would anyone have information on George Johnson in Maryland 1766 George Johnson is listed in the "Taxables in North Susquehanna Hundred" with David Hampton and six negroes. I believe him to be a son of Isabel Hampton Jump of Frederick Co., Va. I believe David Hampton to to be the son of John Hampton, Jr of Frederick Co., Va. Trying to round up my family. Can anyone tell me if Zonia Kessinger and Leona Kesinger are one and the same . In other words is Leona's name Leona or Zonia and why the different spelling for this perticular name? Zonia Kessinger and Leona Kesinger could be the same. Could be that different clerks had different hearing impediments (or biases) and she wasn't given the opportunity to correct the entry (clerks presuming she couldn't read). If you can look at the original handwriting you may find closer spelling than the printed transcripts. The transcribers may have had different opinion of what the scribble spelled. If the links fit, they may be the same. It could well be that neither entry is fully correct. Gerald J.

I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would check - my ancestors are Charles Johnson, arrived NC sometime before 1818 with his parents and siblings from Scotland. Don't know parents names, or siblings' names, or ship ... I know nothing about him. Wish I could find something about him .... anybody recognize him? His son, William Addison Johnson, born 1818 in Hillsboro, NC, married twice - once to Sarah Miranda Ross in Missouri then to Harriet Byron S. Mays in Arkansas. Settled in East TX in what became the Smyrna community near Atlanta Texas in Cass county. WA's siblings were James Donaldson Johnson, Charles Johnson II, Thomas G. Johnson, Elizabeth Jane Johnson. I do not know what happened to them. WA served in Mexican American war and CSA. This is per family lore - I have yet to find military records. His son, William Addison Jervis Worth Johnson, married to Ella Pratt. WAJW's mother was Sarah Miranda Ross and his only sibling by her was Sterling Price Johnson. I've "met" over the internet a descendant of Sterling Price Johnson. Between 1870 and 1882, WA and Harriet had Richard Mentor Johnson, Eugene Pelham Johnson, Edward Erwin Johnson, James Donaldson Johnson, Lou Belle Johnson, Jennie Lyn Johnson, Thomas Galahar Johnson, and Hannah Rebecca Mayes Johnson. These were probably all born in Cass county although the older ones may have been born in Arkansas. I actually met Thomas Galahar Johnson - he lived to be 95 (1880 - 1975) and was just down the road from my mom's house. My mom still lives on the land granted to WA Johnson by the governor of Texas in exchange for work as a surveyor. Douglas county newspaper article 1948 CHICKEN SUPPER FOR FARM TRAINING CLASS Members of the Veteran's Farm Training Class, taught by Rowe Johnson, were entertained with a chicken supper last Friday night athe veteran's clubhouse. The F.F.A. boys of the Douglas County High School, of which Frank Cloer is the vocational Agriculture teacher, served the meal. James Spruell, commander of the local American Legion Post acted as master of ceremonies. A number of visitors, including Senator-elect Glenn Florence and Representative elect Ernest Waldrop were present.
