    1. [JOHNSON] Johnsons of Ohio and West Virginia
    2. Pepe Noah Johnson
    3. I am seeking information on Thomas M. JOHNSON. He was born 28 March 1829 in Ohio. he first married Sarah GILL on 1 February 1858 in Noble County, Ohio. Their children included John William, Rachel Ann, Hannah Jane, Rosetta, Leander, and Stansbury. After Sarah's death, Thomas married Margaret THOMAS, daughter of Josiah and Jane (MORGAN) THOMAS. They were married on 14 August 1881. Margaret had been a servant in Thomas and Sarah's home. It was rumored that she and Sarah were related. Thomas and Margaret's children were Sarah Margaret, Thomas Wesley, Edward, Henry, Emory and Emily. They soon moved from Washington County, Ohio, to Walker, Wood County, West Virginia. Sarah was born in Ohio and the other children were born in West Virginia. Thomas died on 1 May 1910 in Walker, West Virginia. Margaret remarried to Samuel MARTIN. She died on 20 November 1934 in Simpson, Taylor County, West Virginia. Thanks. I beleive their children were Asa, Jeremiah, Piety, Isham and Lydia. Isham (sometimes spelled Isom) and Asa seem to be favorite names in this particular set of Johnsons. Can anyone help? Thanks. I have a Johnson line thar married into the Collard family in the area of Grayson, Green, Breckenridge Counties of Ky about that same time. I have not been able to determine who is who or to connect them to my line. The Collards and Johnsons showed up in Arkansas later on. Gena Theiss

    1. [JOHNSON] Johnston From NC to Green Co., KY
    2. Jeremy, You said you are seeking where in NC your Johnstons came who settled in Green Co., KY. There was a Rev. War veteran Benjamin Johnston from Granville Co., NC who moved in the 1780s to Overton Co., TN, as I recall. The name "Isham" Johnston is associated with this line. Benjamin was married to Charity BOBBITT. I don't know if this will help you or not. I'm looking for my own Benjamin Johnston of the same age from somewhere in SC. Bruce Nichols.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Johnsons in Ecuador might have come from sailing days when Guayaquil was an important port for ships sailing around the Horn and one, or more, sailors or passengers named Johnson decided they liked what they saw and stayed there. Then again Ecuador has mountains, and mountains always draw prospectors. Johnson is one of the more common names and, in the US at least, has become more common because names like Johnstone, Johnston, Jansen, Janssen and Johannsen, and even MacIan, have been altered into Johnson.
