It is not known whether or not he returned to Sweden. Peter Johnson immigrated to the US perhaps around 1880 from Stockholm, Sweden. They said in the family lore that as his ship was leaving port, he saw a fire on the waterfront consuming the apartment where his mother and other siblings lived...he could do nothing and a brother died in the fire he learned later. -------- Would appreciate to hear from other JOHNSONS who may share this lineage. Thanks, Robert JOHNSON, son of Wilford Johnson

Surname: Johnson, Woodring, Moffet I am looking for information on Henry Clay Johnson. Henry Clay was born in PA on March 4, 1845, died Allentown, PA April 6, 1914. Henry married Amanda Elizabeth Woodring on November 17, 1867. Henry Clay Johnson served in the 7th Indiana Vol. Calv. during the CW. According to CW pension records Henry Clay Johnson was from Schuylkill County, PA. Henry and Amanda were married in Pottsville, PA and had four daughters: Name: Born: Died: Place: 1.. Mary E. Johnson June 06, 1872 ? ? 2.. Emma G. Johnson June 11, 1874 ? ? 3.. Lilie A. C. Johnson June 30, 1876 February 07, 1958 Allentown, PA 4.. Clarissa J. A. Johnson July 03, 1876 ? ? I have copies of the original records that list the birth dates for Lilie and Clarissa and the dates are accurate. I don't think that twins could be born three days apart? I have located a refrence in the 1850 census for Schuykill County, PA, (Union Township) that lists a Henry Johns(t)on. Henry was married to Hester ?. They had four children: Name: Born: Died: Place: 1.. Catherine Johns(t)on 1836 ? ? 2.. Sarah Johns(t)on 1840 ? ? 3.. Henry (Clay?) Johns(t)on (March 04,?) 1845 April 6, 1914 Allentown, PA 4.. James Johns(t)on (March 04,?) 1845 ? ? It is funny that James and Henry were born in the same year. Are they twins or cousins? This may relate back to the above question about Lilie and Clarissa. Are they twins or cousins? I have not been able find any listings in the 1850 census for Johnson only Johnston. I assume that this is a transcription error, as all of the handwriting on the page is the same. Can anyone confirm the above connections? Also, does anyone have any information on Henry Johnson, Sr. or Hester? Also Henry's Sr. parents or siblings? I have heard that Henry, Sr. may have come from Greene County, PA and may have been the son of Bailey John Johnson and Hanna Moffet. Bailey was supposedly a Rev. War vet and was originally from Fauquir Co., VA. I have recently found another Johnson with the middle initials AC (Ann Carter) from Lancaster Co, VA. Could Henry Clay Johnson's daughted Lilie A C Johnson be named after her great(?) grandmother? Lot of questions here. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Scott

They are believed to be born in Mississippi, near Buckatunna (Wayne County) abt 1830s (and both were believed to be slaves). Lucky was part Irish and Susie part Choctaw and part Cherokee. Lucky could also be listed as (Luke or Lauchee John). Although I have found some Lucky Johnsons and many Susie Johnsons on the census records, I have never found those two names together. Since they may have migrated to Oklahoma, I have also checked there. I am still awaiting information from the Social Security Administration about a Lucky Johnson who died in Choctaw Co., Oklahoma. The only child I am aware of is my ggrandmother Fannie Johnson b. 1855-1860 who was separated from them when she was abt 8 years old. So far, we are not sure if she had any siblings. I am still looking for children of John Johnson, Jr. and his wife, in Wilkes Co., N.C. John, Jr. was son of John, Sr.; John Sr. was son of Jeffrey Johnson and Rachel Walker. Betty G. McCollum
I have gotten my JOHNSON line back to JOSEPH JOHNSON, born abt. 1820 in N.C. and died after 1880 in Texas. He was married to MARTHA BRYANT. Martha's parents were JAMES BRYANT, brother to BENJAMIN FRANKLIN BRYANT, the Indian agent in Bryant Station, Texas where he built a fort to protect settlers from the hostile indians in the area. There is also a cementery there where Bryant Station used to be. It was bypassed by the raileroad so the town died. Benjamin Franklin Bryant's wife was a sister to James Bryant's wife, Mary {Polly}Price. We think that Joseph and Martha Bryant Johnson are buried at a cementery called Sandy Point in Bell or Milam County, Texas. JOSEPH JOHNSON served in the Civil War from Milam County, Texas with the TEXAS STATE TROOPS, CSA 27th Battalion along with his son, REDDEN H. JOHNSON, my GG Grandfather. We had also heard that another son, BENJAMIN JOHNSON also served in the Civil War and was possibly killed. These are the children that I know of for JOSEPH JOHNSON and his wife, MARTHA BRYANT JOHNSON: 1. Redden Hezekiah or Harrison Johnson--born Aug. 26, 1845 in N.C. {possibly Raleigh or in that area}Redden died on Sept. 7, 1935 in or near Raleigh, N.C. He had gone back to visit his son, Francis Marion Johnson after his wife died and stayed up there and remarried a lady named Minnie Moore. REDDEN H. JOHNSON was married to CECILA ANN FORTENBERRY who had been married before to Henry B. Miller before the Civil War and during that time. Henry died, probably in the war and Cecila Ann married Redden right after the war. Redden and Cecila Ann Johnson are my Great Great Grandparents. 2. MCGILLRIE JOHNSON {CALLED MC}born Jan. 25, 1856 and married to a Mattie. 3. ARCHIBALD {called Asa}JOHNSON--born 1848 and married my great grandmother's sister, ELMIRA LITTLE {She was called {MINIE}. She had a twin sister named Elvina Little called Vinie. They were the children of Richard Newman Little. 4. MARY JOHNSON--born abt. 1851 5. ELIZABETH {BETTIE}JOHNSON--born July 11, 1843. She married LOUIS B. TIPPIT in 1871 in Bell Co., Texas and Bettie died on Jan. 29, 1894. Her husband, Louis B. Tippit broke horses for the stage line in Buckholts, Texas in Milam County and was killed doing this on Oct. 5, 1885. After Bettie died, her brother, Redden, took in her two younger daughters and finished raising them. They worked at the Hotel in Buckholts with Redden's wife who ran the hotel. 6.GEORGIA CASSANNA JOHNSON--born abt. 1845 and maried J.W. {Buck}Springer. Is there anyone out there looking for or knows of Johnson families in Ontario, Canada? We have heard our line left England for Canada. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, -Paige
Hello! My Kentucky Johnsons include one of my brickwalls. His name is Isaac Johnson (though it is spelled Johnston on his marriage bond), he was born in Jessamine Co. Ky., & married Betty Burke (Betsy Burk on the marriage bond) on March 12, 1806 in Washington Co. Ky. (later became Anderson Co.). A David Johnson (Johnston on the marriage bond) signed the marriage bond as Isaac's guardian. Isaac & Betty had 5 sons, Cave, Charles, Merrit (or Merriot), Philip Thurman (b. 1826) and possibly Isaac. The family bible has Isaac Sr. dying in 1832. That's all I have on him. Does he sound familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance. Roxanne
Roxanne: This Cave Johnson married 3 X's and I have nothing further on him. His wives were: Elizabeth Cave Sally Keene Ann Keene Perhaps this will provide a lead. It is the family of Richard Mentor Johnson, the 11th Vice President, under Van Buren. Interesting fellow. It is suspected that, from my line, Elizabeth Johnson married to Moses Sweeney, living on the Slate River, in VA and then in Liberty KY, was related somehow to this family. That is the only reason I have anything on them. Jane JOHNSON (born about 1721) was married to Samuel FITCH, 1739, in Middlesex Co., NJ. Samuel FITCH (1719-1799) was a son of Daniel and Sarah (Hull) Fitch. Samuel Fitch left New Jersey and settled in present-day Berkeley Co., WV in the 1770s. I am interested in learning the parentage and ancestry of Jane Johnson, wife of Samuel Fitch. Your response is appreciated. Charles Ward CMW12635@aol.com
