    3. I have a Sylvie Johnson (jeanson, Janson) born about 1797 daughter of a John Johnson. Where was she born? Where was she from? Was she native? married Charles Stanislas Dagneau Fontenay deQuindre died in Dover East township, County of Kent, Ontario, Canada buried in St Pierre Paroisse, Tilbury East, Kent County, Ontario, Canada We know nothing of her family other than her father's name however the deQuindres were known to be in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania as some of them were with the Indian Department. Perhaps she came from one of these areas with one of them. Any help or suggestions appreciated. > To: [email protected] > Subject: [JOHNSON] Fw: William Johnson born 1777 in NC & William Johnson > born 1728 in VA > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: [JOHNSON] WILLIAM JOHNSON, B. @1774/77 born in NC and William > Johnson born 1728 in VA > > Just a quick question to you? On March 14, 2006 my mother passed away. It was very sudden, she had only been in the hospital to treat an illness. She ended up being there a little longer than any of us had thought and never came home. I know how happy she was to communicate with all of you. I don't quite know what to do in the way of the PROPER genealogy of her passing. I did however believe that you all should be made aware, seeing as how she had made recent contact with many of you. It is still so very hard to think about this having happend, but I'm sure many of you would like or need information. I believe my mother had given most of you her home address. I would be more than happy to help anyone in need, just send your correspondence to that address. We always thought once my 4 children were a little older, she could teach me and we would do all the research together. My grandmother, her mother, is still with us. 1. WILLIAM JOHNSON, B. @1774/77 TN: NEW INFORMATION
    2. Dear List, This message is to all who search William Johnson/Johnston, b. 1774/1777 & died at the Battle of New Orleans.  The following is the basic muster and/or military info rmation. It is not a "Pension File" and therefore does not have a pension identification number. William Johnston  enlisted 13 Nov 1814 in White Co. TN. He was in the Co. of Capt. Daniel Newman and served in the Infantry under Col. James Raulston. Also, according to the record, this Johnson man died 15 Jan 1815 in New Orleans. With that said, this e-mail is intended to bring attention to an error that many of us have in our records concerning this particular William Johnson/Johnston.   The truth is, these facts are not speaking about "our" William, but another, and much younger,  William Johnson/Johnston. After years of thinking we all had the correct info, it is not so.  The actual military record pertaining to the person listed above has finally been secured (not by me) and this William Johnston was a minor, under 21,  when he died in New Orleans in 1815. Therefore, he simply cannot be "our" William Johnson, who was the father of at least six children by 1814.  The William Johnson we track was born @ 1774/77, married a woman named Sarah, b. (@ 1781. They  married @  1799/1800 and had the following children:  Rebecca, b. 1801:  Nancy Louisa Jane, b. 1802:  William Perry, b. 1808:  Francis Justice, b. 1812:  Aaron, b. 1814: and Isaac, b. 1814.  All children born in TN.   Sarah Johnson was also born in TN, according to 1850 census. This does not mean "our" William was not in the War of 1812.  I believe that he probably was, and that he died in that war.  I do not know if I am correct or not.  The fact is that Sarah had children until 1814.   If William had returned, surely there would have been additional children. The best way to get this correction "out" was to post it on the lists that most of us use.  It is posted on Phelps Co. MO, Texas Co. MO, and the JOHNSON surname list.  I hope everybody who researches "our" William Johnson will contact any additional persons who also track him, but may not be online, or on the above named lists. Below is additional information from the actual file from the National Archives: William Johnston was a Pvt. His surname is spelled both Johnson and Johnston on various pages from the file. He received an Honorable Discharge in Nashville, TN on 13 May 1815, after his death. The document states specifically that he "was a minor, under the age of 21 years". According to the Company Pay Roll for the 3rd Reg't of the W. TN Militia, William Johnson served 2 months & 3 days. His pay per month was $8.00. His father, who was the relative processing the paperwork for his pay, was named Jacob Johnston. Total pay for the time spent in the military for William Johnston was $16.80. Good Luck in your new search! Sincerely, Judy & Judy

    1. JOHNSON/EVANS CONNECTION
    2. Dear List, I am seeking information on Eva Jane Evans, b. @ 1851/1852 AL who married Thomas Monroe Johnson on 5 Sept. 1869 in Texas Co. MO. Thomas and "Eva" show on the 1870 Texas Co. MO census, pg. 473. Thomas Monroe was s/o Francis Justice Johnson & wife, Nancy Clark. But, who is Eva Jane Evans? When you check the 1860 census for Phelps County, there is a John P. Evans and wife, Sarah (Gay). They have migrated to the Spring Creek area from Jackson Co. AL (1850) to Hopkins Co. TX (1860) and on to Phelps Co. MO by 1870. In the 1860 census, there is a child, Jane Evans, age 8, b. AL in the HH of John P. Evans. She is not in the Evans HH in 1870 census. I believe this young wife of Thomas Monroe Johnson is a d/o John P. Evans. There are other marriages between these two extended Johnson and Evans families. Does anybody out there have any information on Eva Jane Evans? Does anybody know her burial spot? She must have died as Thomas remarried to Felissa Davidson on 17 Aug 1873. Thomas & Felissa migrate to Grayson Co. TX by 1880 census. Always willing to exc. info to benefit each researcher. Regards, Judy in TX

    1. James Johnson 1825-1895
    2. I am searching for antecedents for James Johnson 1825, born in Kentucky, moved at a young age with his parents to Indiana. His parents are reported to have been born in Virginia. From Indiana, James moved to Jones Co., Iowa, then Linn Co., Iowa, where he married Sylvia Bliss and moved to Guthrie Co., which continued to be his residence, reportedly until his death, though he died in Clay Co., S. Dakota. They had nine sons: Samuel Ward, Perry Lee, Thomas Jefferson, James Clinton, Orren Olin, George Everette, Oliver Ervin, Jay Bliss, and Charley Edwin. Daughters were Sarah S., Mary Elizabeth, and Sylvia Rosalia. According to old notes written by James' granddaughter, he had brothers John (Jack) and Lee, and a sister Elizabeth. Thank you. Deborah Jorgensen

    1. David Johns(t)on b. 1787
    2. Tami Johnston
    3. Hi All: Once again I am seeking my elusive Johns(t)on family. Here is alittle about them: David Johns(t)on b. 1787 in Wilkinson County, Georgia d. 1852 in Plaquemines Parish, LA. He moved to Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana by the 1830s. He was a riverboat pilot. He married Hanna Frederika Hoffman in 1840. They had one son named Alexander Henry Johns(t)on. Alex married Magdlena Keissel (Sherwood) in 1863. They had 3 children: Walter Jarvis b. 1863, Hanna Caroline b. 1865, and David McCoy b. 1867. Does this family sound familiar to anyone? I have not been able to trace to any of David's siblings, but I do know that he did have siblings according to his will in 1852, none of them were still leaving at that time. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, Tami Johnston New Orleans, Louisiana JOHNSTON/HOFFMAN/WEISHEIMER/KEISSEL/HIGGINS/HORNER/ZWEIFEL/CLOVAK/DOCLAUR/ AND MANY MANY OTHERS ... --------------------------------- Yahoo!
