    3. Hi I am totally new to genealogy. However I am trying to trace and locate some "missing" relatives on four lines Embry, Gunter, Longstreet, Johnson So far I can go back 4 generations in Gunter. not all members but parents grandparents some aunts and uncles. Embry only 2 as I have very little to go on. Longstreet and Johnson even worse. Gunter is easiest as I have some marriage licenses and such The rest I have little to go on. For Johnson I have Rose Lee aka Rosa Lee Johnson whose fathers name was obviously Johnson no first name and her mothers maiden name was Clark born in Texas. She had a sister frone (sp) and a brother George maybe others. The reason I have included this all here is because A Gunter married an Embry and their child married a Longstreet and a child married a Johnson. If any of this makes sense and you have info I would love to have it! TIA~ Kathy

    3. Hi List, I again approach the list for information. My data is very limited abd seems to be at a stop. I am seeking information on Norman Huff Johnson, Sr. born in North Carolina in 1880, to parents unknown. I looked for many years for a Johnson/Huff marriage to account for his middle name and finally came up with one in Kentucky. The time frame is marginally acceptable but the location is out of line. Norman attended Law school in Warrington Co. North Carolina and pracriced Law in Richmond, Va. He was married to Alice Baird in Blacksburg, South Carolina in 1907, and after the birth of two children the marriage ended in a bitter divorce. It has been stated that he was from a disfunctional family but there is no way of knowing that as I do not know who his parents were or where they were from. It is noteworthy that his son, Norman, Jr. claimed Rocky Mount as home but I have been unable to prove that. It was stated that Norman, Sr. died in New York of TB in 1943. That also I have been unable to prove as I have been unable to locate his death. It has also been suggested that he may have died in France but I have been unable to find travel outside the U. S. It is doubtful if he is still living. Any suggestions and information will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks, Jim Johnson Smyrna, TN

    3. Afew days ago as we were driving up I-75 my wife wanted to go to Fairmount Ga. to see the place where her father was born. As we were driving in Fairmount, we saw the Johnson Cemetery. Stopping to look we found her ancestors there starting with Thomas Lanier Johnson with dates on the grave markers that coincided with what we new, Also many that we did not know about before. Stopping at the Police station to ask about the cemetery, they told us Mr. Lowe, the caretaker lived just around the corner. We stopped there and he gave us a lot of information on how the various ancestors were connected, He also told us that decendents still lived in the town of 400 people. That evening we stayed in Calhoun Ga. and I entered the information in the computer. A lot of it did not make sense. OK, get out the phone book and call a Johnson. He was home and gave us the information on his ancestors and my wife's ancestors and how they were connected. Chris is living in the Joe Johnson home and remodeling it. The Thomas Lanier home burned down about 14 years ago. Any help will be deeply apreciated. 2. Tony Johnson
    3. For some my reports might seem confusing. What I do is I Follow the LAND not the person. I follow these lands through the changes in County Lines, and Parish Lines, as ever 2500 people these lines changed in Colonial Virginia. Theses lines and Parish Change are noted in Red on the time lines I establish a Time line on where to Look for the Neighbors and the Johnson's I am following Once I have establisehd these Line changes , I then follow the Neighbors (kinsman) of the Johnson's I am seeking. I place the Deeds to these lands in Notes or Research. This will lead me to where this Johnson went and where his lands went. County Lines and Parish Lines were re drawn up once a population reached 2,500 people. these lines where drawn on Streams, Rivers and Creeks. So what happened was when a new line was drawn on one side of a Creek is one part of a family and in another County or in another Parish. Still living on the same lands, but now in a different County or in a New Parish. To know your neighbor is to Know your Kinsman. These families travel as Clands in Colonial Virginia. They brought into the Colonies there relatives which lived beside them. They intermarried 2nd and 3 rd cousins. WHen they moved they moved as a Clan younger members seeking new lands they took with them their Kinsman. Tony

    3. This is my first contact on the Johnson family list. Please bear with us if it is not up to par. My father Tom Johnson was born in Belmont, TX in 1918. His obituary states that he was the son of Jim or James Johnson and Amy McIntosh. I know that my father spent some of his youth in Oklahoma and he married a Lauderdale in San Antonio around 1940 give or take a few years. He had brothers Jim, Andrew, and Arthur that we know of. Our family has spread to New Mexico , California, Utah, and Colorado. Dad was next to youngest with Arthur being his little brother. He mentioned Caney, Shawnee, and Henrietta, OK for Oklahoma places. Any information on Johnson or McIntosh or associated families will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Glenn in TX [email protected] __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

    1. JOHNSON & EVANS CONNECTIONS
    2. Dear List, I am seeking any info on the family of John Rodgers Evans (b. @ 1845 AL) and wife, Elizabeth JOHNSON (b. @ 1841 GA).  They were married on 6 Aug 1867 in Texas Co. MO.  John Rodgers Evans was s/o William Evans (b. @ 1818 TN)  and Elizabeth Dunham.  This family shows on the 1870 Phelps Co. MO census. Elizabeth JOHNSON had a brother named Thomas Monroe Johnson who was married to Eva Jane Evans on 5 Sept 1869. Texas Co. MO.    I believe Eva Jane Evans was d/o John P. Evans, (b.  1823 AL), a younger (probably half-brother) to above listed William Evans.   Believe  John Rodgers Evans and Eva Jane Evans were cousins, but cannot prove it yet. I do have info on these families and am always willing to exc. info. Regards,  Judy in TX

    3. Once again I am pursuing any leads on my GGG-Grandfather _________ Johnson who may also have went by the name "One Star" - I have no date or place of birth but am looking in the range of 1850-1920 lifespan. I believe he was born in NY. Reportedly he was of Mandan Sioux descent but given his local and the possibility that he was a black native american, it is quite possible he was part of the "Poole" tribe or the Mowhawk descent - he was known to frequent the twin tiers of NY/PA - Chemung & Steuben counties of NY and the Scranton, PA areas. Family lore has it that he was either a scout for the U. S. Cavalry or a traveling minister. He was married to Fanny NICHOLS of Bath, NY and Scranton, PA and they had two daughters, Bertha & Elizabeth JOHNSON of Scranton, PA. Any leads greatly appreciated. --------------------------------- Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less.

TRAYLOR Sally W. Powell & Margaret JOHNSON Grandson: Smith JOHNSON I have also seen postings of a son named Moses who does not seem to be shown in the will of Smith JOHNSON. Does anyone have any sources for Moses as Smith's son? I am trying to determine the father of my line, Bailey JOHNSON b 1792 VA d 1868 Upshur County, TX m Malinda TRAYLOR 1815 Jasper County, GA. The family also lived in Oglethorpe and Troup County, GA prior to going to TX. Does anyone have further information on sons, John or possible son, Moses? Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated. J Williams

    2. Hi Cousin Linda, :D You and I have corresponded before. I wasn't sure if you would remember or not, but your Daniel and my Joel, born 1813, were brothers. You were most helpful with the information you previously sent me about the family. I have something you might like to have. Another of our cousins who lives in Cleveland, TN, but not on the internet, has been kind enough to share some pictures with me via snail mail. You're gonna love this...one of the pictures he just recently sent was of your Daniel and his family! It looks as if the picture was taken between 1860 or 1870. In this picture is Daniel Johnson and wife Margaret "Brannon", James and his wife Mary Elizabeth "Varnell", John Y, Joel Erie, Hugh, Daniel Jr, and Elizabeth. I would love to send this to you. I will try to scan it at my office tomorrow to see if I can email it. This is the information he sent with the picture: * Daniel Johnson born abt 1815 in NC, wife Margaret J Brannon * James 11/25/1841 - 1/7/1910, wife Elizabeth Varnell 6/15/1844 - 5/11/1907 both buried Chilcutt Cemetery in Bradley Co, TN * John Y 10/17/1843 - 3/25/1888, wife Sarah C. Varnell 2/24/1851 - 3/20/1903 both buried Chilcutt Cemetery * Joel Erie 1847 - 1915, wife Isabell 1849-1925 both buried Carlock Methodist Cemetery, Cog Hill, TN * Hugh 8/10/1848 - 6/17/1900 buried Chilcutt Cemetery, wife Martha C. Goins * Daniel Jr. abt 1852 * Elizabeth abt 1856 I have no idea where he got this info or if it's documented. So, the accuracy can't be certain. However, most of the dates did match what you had sent me earlier. Did you know about the youngest child, Elizabeth? You didn't list here in any of your emails, but she is in the picture. I was thrilled when your email came through just days after this picture arrived. Sometimes, things just fall into place, huh? If you would like, I can take a trip up to Chilcutt Cemetery and take pictures of the ones buried there.
