She died 22 Dec 1969 in Chattanooga, Hamilton, TN and was buried 24 Dec 1969 in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Alma's parents were William D. Davenport (a Baptist preacher) and Margaret Ramey. Bill and Alma had two children: 1. Elsie Caldonia was born 24 Jun 1908 in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO. She died 15 Jun 1988 in Chattanooga, Hamilton, TN and was buried 17 Jun 1988 in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Chattanooga, TN. She married #1 Roy James in 1930 and had one son, Harland W. Family stories say that Alma separated from "Bill" when she was pregnant with Lee Edward. Bill may or may not have remained in St. Louis, MO. He was a brickmaker, it's said. Alma divorced Bill and married Roscoe Massey. They had two daughters, Margaret and Dee, who were adopted out. Alma divorced Roscoe and married Richard Alexander Monds on 18 Oct 1919 in Wauhatchie, Hamilton, TN. Richard was born 7 Oct 1880. He died 28 Aug 1946 and was buried in Fryar Cemetery in Tiftona, Hamilton, TN. They had eight children: 1. Clarence Richard was born 1 Mar 1920 in Hamilton Co., TN. I am seeking the parents of Rebecca JOHNSON, b. ca 1760, who married ca 1780 in Chatham or Orange Co, NC to John DIXON, son of Simon and Elizabeth (ALLEN) DIXON. Simon DIXON was the son of Thomas and Hannah (HADLEY) DIXON. The DIXONs were Quakers who lived in New Castle Co, DE and Chester Co, PA before coming to the Chatham/Orange Co, NC area around 1755. John and Rebecca (JOHNSON) DIXON had five children: Elizabeth DIXON, b. ca 1781, m. 9 Feb 1799, Orange Co, NC to William MARSHILL Rebecca DIXON, b. ca 1785, m. 30 Mar 1807, Orange Co, NC to Daniel TOWELL Simon DIXON, b. ca 1787, m. ca 1815 to Mary __?__ Rachel DIXON, b. ca 1792, m. ca 1808 to Jacob HOBSON <<<<<< my line John DIXON, b. 13 May 1795, m. 6 Mar 1859, Orange Co, IN to Sarah STANFIELD Rebecca (JOHNSON) DIXON probably died sometime between 1795 and 1799 as John DIXON remarries in 1799 to Ruth (DIX) MASSEY and has five more children. John and Ruth, along with their children and most of John's children by Rebecca JOHNSON, moved to Orange Co, IN around 1815. More info on John and Rebecca (JOHNSON) DIXON can be found at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jrichmon/qkrcoll/dixn1274.htm I suspect that Rebecca JOHNSON's parents were Quakers like the DIXONs. She may have been a daughter of, or related to, John and Elizabeth JOHNSON who came to Chatham Co, NC from Chester Co, PA. I am particularly interested in finding Rebecca's parents since she is my direct maternal line ancestor and I have had my mtDNA tested - see info at: http://www.mitosearch.org/search_view.asp?uid=TRDA8&viewuid=TRDA8&p=1 I would appreciate hearing from anyone with more info on Rebecca JOHNSON. Thanks, Mike [email protected]

Check out the Washington County GenWeb site - they may have a more definitive answer about whats' available than I would know. http://midatlantic.rootsweb.com/MD/washington/ or the Washington County Historical Society: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdwchs/ You may want to check out Frederick County also, as Washington County was created from Frederick County in 1776. The first Census records an Arthur Johnson is 1820. 1820 Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland Arthur Johnson - 210210 21010 note: the above may not be correct - difficult to differentiate between the 0's and the 1's. Michael, Thank you a TON for that 1910 census. I have been gathering info on this man for several months: trying to figure out exactly how he fits into my JOHNSON family. I know he fits, and I know his father is one of two men. Thank you again, I am extremely grateful! Best, Judy in TX
