Just an update on a new discovery. I was surfing the net and came across the Broyles site. http://www.ultranet.com/~deeds/broyles/html/d0004/g0000080.htm#I176 On this page you will find the Larkin Broyles - Melissa Jobe family. Melissa is the d/o Caleb Jobe and Sallie Pryor, gd/o my Samuel Jobe-Dorcas MacKay. Now when you get to this site, you will see the oldest son, Joel T. Broyles married Ellen TETHEROW. Well we already knew that a Ellen Tetherow, the d/o Ruth Southward and David Tetherow had married. As most know, Ruth Southward is the d/o Sarah 'Sallie' Jobe and William Southward. So when I found this, I wrote a couple from my researcher's page that descend from this line and one was quickly able to put it together. One of the advantages of being on my researcher's pages! >G< Conclusion: we have the son of Melissa (Jobe) Broyles marrying the grandson of Sarah (Jobe) Southward! BOTH Melissa and Sarah were daughters of Caleb Jobe and Sallie Pryor!! I also got a 'bit of new information' on some of the Nancy (Jobe) Bartlett family and the Permelia (Jobe) Martin family which will be on the next update. These are two other daughters of Caleb. Another tidbit that is interesting is that I just discovered that Benjamin Franklin Martin married Sarah Ann Rains on July 25, 1863 Cole Co., Missouri. Benjamin Martin was the s/o Christopher 'Kit' Martin, Jr. and Permelia 'Pamela' Jobe. At this time, I'm not sure how significant this is to the Enoch Job researchers of Cooper -Cole Co., MO - but definitely something to keep in mind. Remember after Lucretia's death, Enoch Job is believed to have married second a MRS. SARAH MARTIN about April 1829 Cooper Co., MO. 1860 -Moniteau Co., Missouri Census MARTIN, James 52, TN John 17, MO Sarah 15 Frances 12 George W. 7 JOBE, Sarah 85, VA MARTIN, Elizabeth 60, VA By itself, this doesn't mean that much - but we have to remember that : 1) late 1780's Samuel Jobe/Dorcas MacKay family and Enoch Job Jr/Lucretia family are in the Greene/Cocke Co., TN area - (same church (Big Pigeon) and both on the 1787-1788 Greene Co., TN Tax List) 2) 1790's Dorcas is member of Old Mulky Church in Monroe Co., KY as well as Enoch - very close time frame together 3) 1802 - Dorcas and sons (Caleb and Jacob) are in Jackson Co., TN 4) 1807 - Caleb in White Co., TN, Enoch is in Warren Co., Tn (Jackson, White,Warren are all adjoining counties especially in 1802-1807 time frame) 5) 1821 - Caleb Jobe family went to Missouri (1818-1820 - Enoch Job family went to MO) 6) NOW we find Enoch Job descendants and Caleb Jobe descendants BOTH in Cole Co., MO and the same surnames in both families!! COINCIDENCE???? **From the above, it appears that Sarah Jobe (widow of Enoch Job Jr) is the widow of some Martin man who died before April 1829." If anyone knows anything about this Sarah (Martin) or the Martin family listed above on the 1860 census, please write Freida or me! Thanks! One must also remember that Enoch Job descends from Joshua Job and Margaret Mackay.Margaret (MacKay) Job was the aunt of my Dorcas (MacKay) who was married to Samuel Job - parents of my Isaac and the Caleb Job who married Sallie Pryor. So there is already a dual relationship here. AND in the middle of all of this moving around, we have my very elusive Isaac, brother to Caleb, whose family ends up in Mo-Ark border also in the 1820's though Isaac, himself, died in the War of 1812 at Battle of New Orleans. Anyway something to think about and to let you know of some of my 'new discoveries' and what to expect on the next update - which by the way, is going to be a big update again - even though only been 10 days! There is a little bit for just about everybody. >G< HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! (Like Freida's husband, mind is working today overtime) and here it is VERY VERY COLD!!! Ann (Jobe) Brown
