I started thinking today about all the things I have to be thankful for this year. One blessing stood out far and above all the others. I received custody of my children in the divorce. A little while ago I was giving them hugs and kisses in the driveway as they were leaving for a trip to Kentucky with the ex-wife. My 4-year-old, Emily, looked at me and said, "I love you Daddy. Don't be sad, I'll be back. Wait right here for me." Thank You, Lord. I'm waiting right here, Emily. What do you have to be thankful for? Are your clouds silver-lined? Did someone touch your life? Or better yet, did you touch someone else's? Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four-year-old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry." After turkey with my family at 2:00, I'm going to go help with the local Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless. Thank You Lord for the opportunity to help someone. Share your blessings.
