Hi All, I just wanted to make a comment on the excellent site for the Quaker meetings that Ann and Frieda have set up. Please remember that Friends (Quakers) did not speak the "civil" names of the months since those were taken from pagan sources. They always spoke of the month by number. Thus before the New Dating, March was the first month. This can cause a lot of confusion. Later (was it 1752?) when the date change took effect with January starting the year, First month became January. My mother and grandfather were Quakers, although they are not in my JOBES line. Interestingly, some of my mother's ancestors probably attended Chester Monthly meeting. (Now if I could just link my JOBES there at the same time!!) Happy Thanksgiving to all.
