I am a ggreat grandson of Allen LaMott Jobes, Sgt. Jobes was killed in action leading a charge in the battle of Jonesboro Sept. 1, 1864 We have several connections between my Jobes & Shields lines, and many that also served in the civil war. Allen was born 5-30-1834 in Greenville, Darke Co. Ohio. He married Susanna Gruber on 12-1-1853 and divorced 2-26-1861. Their childre were: Cornelius Neal b. 3-29-1854 ( thats 3mos. for mom, 3mos. for dad & 3mos for baby) Mary Jane b. 12-28-1855 my GGrandmother John B. b. 6-6-1857 Amanda Ellen b. 12-25-1858 I would like to find as much information on Allen & related Jobes' as possiable. Most of all where exactly he is buried, hopefully not one of the 3,000 unknown from Jonesboro. Other interests are the Jobes Journals (copys) and other information or artifacts to help put flesh on bones of this line. Please look at my web page at bottom of this email.
