He was born June 25, 1918 in Barnett, a son of Edward N. and Minnie Belle Kays Jobe. He was married in 1943 in California to Cora Lee Hackney who died in 1980. He was married Aug 22, 1987, in Jefferson City to Nellie M. Vieth, who survives at the home. He attended school in Barnett and Olean, and was an Army veteran of World War II. A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, he owned and operated Jobe's Auto Service. He then was employed as a mechanic at Schanzmeyer Ford, and as a bus driver with the Jefferson City Transit Authority until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church, Orlean; Russellville Lodge 90, A. F. and A.M.; California Chapter 58, Royal Arch Masons; Ezzra Council 31, Cryptic Masons, Prince of Peace Commandery 29, Knight Templar, Order of the Eastern Star in Jefferson City and Hickory Hill; and the DAV,Oliver Burchrie Post 17. Other survivors include one stepson, Donald R. Vieth, Jefferson City; one stepdaughter, Nancy L. Crader, Jefferson City; two sisters, J. Lorene Martin, Holts Summit, and Dorothy M. Hackmann, Fulton; three brothers, Vincel L. 'Roy' Jobe, Russellville, Paul I. Jobe, Olean, and Dillard G. Jobe, San Jose, Calif; six step grandchildren and five step great- grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Bob Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City.
