Jobe, 70 son of B. R. and Margaret Jobe, passed way at his home hear Rocky Mount, July 22, 1942. He was born Augusut 18, 1871, and at the age of ten years moved to Rocky Mount with the family to make his home where he spent his youth and manhood. It was there he attended school, Sunday school and church, and gave his heart early in life to his Savior. He first became a member of the Rocky Mount church and later transferred his membership to the Union Church. April 5, 1903, Mr. Jobe was married to Mary Ellen Wood and to them two children were born, a daughter, Hazel B. Jordan, now of St. Louis, and Onlie F. Jobe, of Los Angeles, Calif. His good companion passed away August 23, 1923, leaving her husband and children without her care. Mr. Jobe's parents and three of his sisters preceded him in death. The sisters were: Mrs. George McDaniel of California; Mrs. Sadie Hill of Clarksburg, and Mrs. Olie Whipple of Eldon. Surviving besides his two daughters are his brothers, Vince Jobe of Clarksburg, and James Jobe of Crowder, Okla.; and sisters Mrs. Malinda Lawson of Woodland, Calif. Mrs. Lora Jones of Southwest City, Mo. Mrs. Martha Jobe of High Point and Mrs. Agnes Hees of High Point. Mr. Jobe was well known and well liked in the surrounding community in which he resided so long. He was a kind loving parent to his children when they were left without a mother's care. He had endeared himself to many with whom he had been associated. For the past three months he had suffered deeply, but at the last bid his children at the beside farewell with a smile. Funeral services were held at the Union Church at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon by the Rev. Willard Brewer. Tom Jordan of St. Louis and Robert Edmondson of Barrett sang "In the Garden" "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Whispering Hope" Burial was made in Union cemetery directed by Kays Funeral Home.
