The Stars and Stripes Sunday June 29, 1952 109th Fld Hosp Starts Work On Additions SALZBURG - June 29 (S&S) - Work started recently on a construction and enlargement program that will approximately double the facilities of the 109th Fld Hosp by Sept. 1, according to Col Louis H. Jobe, Jr. CO of the hospital. The hospital will annex an adjoining building and the two buildings will be joined by a yet-to-be constructed two-story closed ramp. It is expected that in addition to other improvements, the renovation will increase the present capacity of the hospital to 300 beds. The building was originally designed for 75 beds and currently holds from 110 to 250. Other improvements will include a new eye clinic and out-patient clinic, a modern pediatrics ward and eight examining rooms. IN addition, the X-ray, physiotherapy and laboratory departments will be enlarged. If funds are made available, it is planned to increase the lounge space and include a recreation room with various games and amusements for the patients. The dental clinic presently located at the hospital will be moved to camp Roeder, within six months where it will become a post clinic. Dental service for inpatients only, will be retained at the hospital.
