Hope that I caught the attention of anyone researching Samuel Jobe/Dorcas McKay descendants and the Enoch Job of Cole Co., MO. Just got an important discovery and it actually comes from a Coyle/Choil/Coil researcher. Apologize for the length - but this is IMPORTANT!! Got to figure out how to say this so it makes sense to everyone and hopefully someone will see something. --------------- Background: We ALREADY KNOW that Samuel Jobe who married Dorcas McKay (or rather Dorcas for sure) and Enoch Job who went to Cole Co., MO - both at one time belonged to the Old Mulky Meeting House (Mill Creek) in present-day Monroe Co., KY (formed 1820 from Barren and Cumberland Co., KY). Enoch was a member from about 1797 to when he went to Warren Co., TN (between 1809 and 1817 after the church split) In 1797 and also in 1805 - Dorcas (McKay) Jobe was listed as a member. BEFORE THIS - both Enoch and my Samuel Job were members of Big Pigeon Big Pigeon Baptist Church in Cocke Co., TN. We ALSO KNOW that Enoch Job (who went to Cole Co., MO) was gs/o Joshua Job and Margaret McKay/MacKay and that Dorcas (wife of Samuel Job) was a McKay and both were cousins to each other. ---------------- Known: For many years, Katharine Reynolds, Bill Jobe and I and several others have known about the marriage of Nathan Jobe to Perhenny 'Sinthia' Coyle on November 2, 1812 Madison Co, Alabama (Mississippi Territory). Now we BELIEVED (and at this moment still do) this Nathan Jobe to be the oldest s/o Daniel Jobe and Mourning Pryor and gs of Samuel Job and Dorcas McKay. Nathan m/1 Martha LEE April 2, 1811 Madison Co, Alabama (Mississippi Territory). They had one son, Lee Roy Perry Jobe born March 5, 1812 . It is also beleived that Martha (Lee) Jobe died in childbirth or shortly after and than Nathan m/2 Perhenny or 'Sinthia' Coyle (ABOVE). If they had any children - we do not know of any. We also do not know when she died. Nathan Jobe m/3 Martha Ann AZBELL Feb 27, 1821 Lawrence Co., TN. We have also known for many years that this Perhenny or 'Sinthia' Coyle was d/o Michael Coyle who left a will dated 1814-1815 in which she is listed as Cynthia Jobe. I have had a typed transcription of this Michael Coyle will for many years - actually meant very little except it proved that Cynthia was d/o Michael Coyle. ----------------- Discoveries about 6 months ago: We found 3 marriages all performed by Rev. John Mulkey of the Mill Creek Church. 1) Hannah Jobe who married William Marrs Logue - from other records we know that she was d/o Enoch Job that went to Cole Co., MO 2) Nancy Jobe who married Benjamin COLE July 30, 1799 (license bought Cumberland Co., KY) 3) Rachel Jobe who married William Cole Jan 12, 1802 Barren Co., KY At this time and then - everything pointed to Nancy and Rachel and Hannah being sisters (all married in same church by same minister about the same time) being daughters of Enoch Job (who was also a member) (one who went to Cole Co., MO) --------------------- DISCOVERED IN LAST COUPLE OF DAYS: I recently heard from a Coyle researcher regarding Michael Coyle's will so I sent her a scanned copy of the typed page I've had in my binder for 30 years. To her, it made more sense as she knew more about Michael's children and recognized many of the names. Now I am quoting from a letter that she wrote me this morning: *********** "Ann--Here are the notes for Michael Coyle: As you can see, he names all of his children in his will--but you have to use some imagination. First he names the 5 youngest boys--William, Benjamin, Ervin (Alexander Irvin), Lack (Jack), and Stephen. He then names his three oldest sons, Robert, James and Michael. Then he names his daughters, married ones first: Irally?,True(Nellie True), Permelia Quinn (Permelia Gum), Sinthia Jobe (Terthinia Jobe),then the unmarried ones, Lucy and Eliza. Agree? Interesting that Lucy, age about 15, and Eliza, age about 12, seem to be unmarried but are not mentioned as to under whose care they will be. Maybe they were with a relative" ***************** Now Carole descends from Permelia (Coyle) Gum (from the old writing this has been written as Quinn). For some reason I decided to question her about the ones in KY as in an earlier letter she mentioned Michael had lived in KY and then said it was Barren Co., KY. I've also in the past seen Coyle/Coil/Choil written as Cole. Well SURPRISE - she immediate wrote back: **********' "Just found another note with Benjamin Coyle information on the net that his son, Benjamin Coyle, married Nancy Jobe, 30 July, 1799, Cumberland County, KY. This is the brother of Michael Coyle." *********** So I had her check again about William who married Rachel Jobe. She just replied with: *********** "Ann--Michael did have a brother William Coyle, but I have no record of his marriage. I'll keep looking and tell you if I find anything." ********** SUMMARY: So we now have Michael Choil whose 1) daughter, Sinthia 'Perhenny' 'Terthinia' Coyle married Nathan Jobe (believed to be s/o Daniel Jobe and Mourning Pryor (don't forget the Pryors were from KY) and gs/o Samuel Jobe and Dorcas McKay (who belonged to Old Mill Church). 2) brother, Benjamin Coyle (Cole) married Nancy Jobe (believed to be a d/o Enoch Job and Lucretia ? and gd/o Joshua Jobe and Margaret McKay (also married at Old Mill church 3) and a brother, William Coyle who our Coyle researcher knows nothing about (yet we have a William Coyle 'Cole' who married Rachel Jobe (beleived to be a sister to Nancy -above-) and also married at Old Mill Church. DO WE HAVE TWO BROTHERS MARRYING TWO SISTERS???? Plus when Freida and I looked for COLE information in this area (Barren/Monroe Co., KY and/or Warren Co., TN) we didn't find anythng. Should we have been looking for Coyle??? Well now you have it!! I am also carboning our Coyle researcher - though she is not a member of the Jobe List. Carole, I do have a question - who are the parents of Michael, Benjamin and William Coyle? If possible, please send me a list of ALL the brothers and sisters as you have them and who they married. Something else might ring a bell. We also need to go back and check the Old Mill records and see if there are any Coyle, Choil, etc mentioned in the records. Have to disvcover what happened to Benjamin and William and their Jobe wives!!! Ann
