    1. [JOBE] Fw: REDNECK FAMILY TREE
    2. Val Jobe
    3. - And we think we have problems tracing our Family Tree!!! Just for Fun, Val Many many years ago when I was twenty three, I got married to a widow who was pretty as could be. This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red. My father fell in love with her, and soon the two were wed. This made my dad my son-in-law And changed my very life. My daughter was my mother, For she was my father's wife. To complicate the matters worse, Although it brought me joy, I soon became the father Of a bouncing baby boy. My little baby then became A brother-in-law to dad. And so became my uncle, Though it made me very sad. For if he was my uncle, Then that also made him brother To the widow's grown-up daughter Who, of course, was my step-mother. Father's wife then had a son, Who kept them on the run. And he became my grandson, For he was my daughter's son. My wife is now my mother's mother And it makes me blue. Because, although she is my wife, She is my grandma too. If my wife is my grandmother, Then I am her grandchild. And every time I think of it, It simply drives me wild. For now I have become The strangest case you ever saw. As the husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa.

    1. [JOBE] Need Help!
    2. Goodmorning all, Last night I received a photo of my husband's gr gr grandfather Willis Rooks Civil War stone, (this was a total surprise to me didn't know he served) and on the stone it says PROV ENR MO MIL. Now I know the MO MIL stands for Misouri Militia, and Randy says he is sure the PROV stands for Provost, having to do with the Militay Police, but what does ENR stand for? I have never seen this on a miltiary stone before so any help is greatly appreciated. Happy Veteran's Day to those of you out there that have served in our Armed Forces. Freida

    3. Well, it would be hubby's great-grandfather for our particular line--but remember when we were talking about the obit for the fellow in Jeff City awhile back, and I told you his father, Samuel E. Jobe of the St Joseph MO area was his father and we connected all that? Well, Samuel was definitely 'original' Mormon, too, and don't know how much farther it goes back for him. He's not even a close relation to our line, he was several lines removed from us. I say 'original' Mormon--that refers to Latter Day Saints who have stayed with the original church doctrines and beliefs, as established in 1830, and not the Utah Mormons, who are traditionally known as 'Mormons'. There are many more Latter Day Saints out there who did not follow Brigham Young to Utah and go along with polygamy and other doctrines. They stayed in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa and other midwest states, primarily, beginning in 1844. Then, of course, like anything, they spread out to other areas. A good guess would be roughly 100 years, but don't know about that Samuel E. Jobe line--could go back farther than that. Patti > Patti, > Had no idea! 3. Seems kind of silly to stereotype an entire family line of thousands and thousands one particular way or another........ Since our Jobe's started out early as Quakers (changing from whatever they were in Wales), and there sure aren't many Quaker Jobes left from the sounds of it, I'd say in reality that *most* of them changed their religion--ha! We've got four generations, at least, of Mormon Jobes in our line. 1. [JOBE] Thomas Job in Utah
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Malinda, I still don't know who Thomas Job in Utah is - but I just did a search of their records and there is a: Thomas Davies Job born about 1832 who married first Hannah Daniels and m/2 Elizabeth Davy/Davies?. Two children are shown - could be more - Ok, you check further and this Thomas Job was born Oct 20, 1812 Foesybroga, Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire, S. Wales and died Dec 23, 1890 in Gosher, UTAH. 1) Thomas Daniel Job born June 13, 1856 Salt Lake City, Utah 2) Herbert Job born 1858 in Utah So, Malinda to answer your question - this Thomas Job is NOT part of Andrew Job SR.'s line. As said earlier, I've only found one branch of our Andrew Job Jr group that went to Utah and this was a Job/Sidwell descendant - not carrying the Job surname and was definitely a break from the normal/tradition. I do agree with Stan's statement! Ann > I cannot believe that the Thomas Job in the Morman materials is a part > of the Job-Sidwell group because of the time problem and the fact of > all Jobe's - they are hard headed and do not change their religious > beliefs easily.
