    3. Thanks Malinda! Never upset when we get new information - especially WITH SOURCES!! Now note that the name Douthitt is spelled as Dowthitte. Did ALL of Uriah's descendants use this spelling???? As for where the updates were in Jobe Branches, I didn't keep track but are mostly people who died in the last 10-15 years and who used the Jobe surname (though may have been a married surname). When you go to the search page - go to the advanced and use the death date (something like 1995 and use plus or minus 20 years! I'll try and find some of them and make note shortly - but know there are lots of obits and death records. REally probably should have posted the obits on Gen-Connect. I also found 4-5 for Jobe Legacy and I didn't keep track of all of them either. I got too excited that I forgot to make note. REally sorry about that but there is LOTS of new information there!! >G< Ann > Hi Ann..... > > Please don't hate me....I just found some new information to add to the Jobe > Branches site. > / > Sarah Smith Dowthitte > Mother of Ella Dowthitte Cline > 27 Dec 1826 > 29 Oct 1912 > other side > Gladys Lee Cline, d/o J E & Ella D Cline > 22 March 1893 > 13 Feb 1951 > /

    3. Hi Ann..... Please don't hate me....I just found some new information to add to the Jobe Branches site. I just found out last night where Sarah Smith Douthit w/o Uriah J Douthit (grandson of Sarah Jobe) was buried.....see below...Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory, Catawba Co NC. Her gravestone has both her birth and death dates (both of which were previously unknown) . She was buried in a family plot that also affirms that there was an older daughter (and son, Julius C who was 3 years older than Ella) and also adds another generation, at least in part. All her children were born in Piney Fork Twp, Evening Shade P.O. Sharp Co AR (per the Census records). The source for the new info is : "Catawba County Cemeteries", Vol 6, p.46 pub. by the Catawba County Genealogical Society P. O. Box 2406 Hickory, North Carolina 26603:2406 Derick Hartshorn kindly did the lookup below.........malinda This/these stones form a family unit: James Ellis Cline 1 May 1856 25 Oct 1903 / Ella D. 2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. I just updated Jobe Legacy a few minutes ago I'm still waiting for answers for a few letters and still have a couple of questions on a couple of individuals, but decided to go ahead with the update anyway as I know there are many waiting for it as it is a much bigger update than normal. I knew that I had been BUSY in the last two weeks - just wasn't sure how busy! >G< In the last 17 days alone - 703 NEW individuals were added! (and this didn't include Jobe Branches which I updated a few days ago and by the way, it already needs updating again) or my miscellaneous files But do want to THANK ALL who have sent in information and please remember to check the researcher's pages as more are being added all the time. I added one yesterday who has 4 different Jobe lines going back to Caleb Job - s/o Andrew Job Jr. Two different ones go back to son Jacob and two different ones to son, Nathan. Now I can sure understand why Katharine and I were having trouble keeping these Washington-Sullivan Co., TN lines separated and figuring all the DIFFERENT cousin relationship as most had several different ones! >G< Some of the Major updates (not all by any means) I made note of include: 1) Phoebe (Jobe) Barron Line - (d/o Jacob Job - Deborah MacKay) 2) Elizabeth (Jobe) Odell Line (d/o Enoch Job Sr, gd/o Joshua Jobe) 3) Notes for Andrew Job Jr were expanded 4) Rachel (Odell) - Abraham MacKay line (s/o Mary Jobe and Moses Green MacKay) 5) William Chilton Jobe - Jane Rea Line (especially son Martin) 6) Bits and pieces on family of Edward J. Jobe/Isabelle Fincher 7) Mary Ann Blair - Samuel Fullenwider line (d/o Margaret Jobe - Thomas Blair) 8) Ruth Southward - David Tethrow (d/o William Southward - Sarah Jobe) 9) Charles S. Cox - Sarah Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Ferguson (s/o John H. Cox -Hannah Edna Copass) 10) George Jobe - Eliza Mahulda Murray (double Jobe cousins) 11) Adelaide Eliza Bruce -William Henry Chandler (d/o Lawrence Washington Bruce) and as usual many minor updates appear throughout! Trying to keep on top of all the new information and findings that are coming in! >G< Ann (Jobe) Brown [email protected]

I appreciate your help. Now I have run across another possible Jobe connection and this time it is Jobe "Doss" Francklow. Again I am thinking that his mother's maiden name was Jobe but his mother was Barbara Margaret Taylor Rikard. I did find out that Jobe "Doss" Francklow was born in 1863 in Lexington, Lexington Co., South Carolina. What I am now wondering is this - do you have a Rikard or a Taylor in your file and possibly linked to a Jobe in the South Carolina area? I sure hope to discover a link to this area. Thanks, Stan Jobe

    3. If we were to publish a book, then we would have to charge for it, and Ann, Randy and I do not believe in making profit from work done by and ourselves. My family information will be done in a book form, but genealogy should be free, and it will be placed in the libaries, but I will never sell it! Freida Goes double for me!!! Ann I must also agree with my cohorts. I once thought about writing this book but soon discovered that it would be next to impossible. Our surname, as rare as it is, is still a family of proportions as most of you have found for yourselves. I spoke with Sherman about his at one time and read his book. I have several Jobe books, Bill's Journal, some of Katherine's info to an extent, and literally thousands of records. I really did want to put it together as a book form. But as you can see from the Jobe websites and researchers involved, It would be a life's work. I own a program that would write this book for me from a gedcom. But after looking at the time involved just for text, not to mention all the new info that has surfaced this year...then add all the actual documents and the pictures we have collected in the past 5? years...it would take my computer over a week just to process the text....then edit?...add the docs and pics...it would have to be in volumes. Maybe some day someone and the technology will come along to take everything we have now and make it possible and simple enough to publish that book...but for now..I would rather give it away. Besides, isn't that we're all about anyway Sharing and enjoying, Randy "I Love Being A" Jobe [email protected] The Book of Jobe http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~jobe/ "It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakable precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them." 3. Can anyone identify the progenitor of these Xenia, Greene Co., Ohio Jobe families! I have them in a miscellaneous file! Ann

    1. [JOBE] Nancy E. ( COLLINS ) JOBE - 1897 obit - Xenia, Ohio - Greene County
    2. XENIA DAILY GAZETTE AND TORCHLIGHT TUESDAY EVENING - JANUARY 26, 1897 XENIA, OHIO GREENE COUNTY MRS. JOHN H. JOBE Passing away of a loved and highly respected lady Mrs. John H. JOBE, after many weeks of illness from that dread disease, typhoid fever, closed her eyes in rest and peace at 8:35 o'clock this morning at her home on the Jamestown Pike this morning. To her many friends in this county the news will come with a great shock, for she was held in universal respect and esteem by all, and many will be deeply saddened by the tidings. She had been confined to her bed for 19 weeks lacking just 1 day, and about 2 weeks ago suffered a relapse, being attacked by la grippe in addition to typhoid fever, and in her weakened condition was unable to over come the disease. She was conscious and able to recognize her friends and relatives up to about 5 o'clock last evening. Before marriage the deceased was Miss Nancy E. COLLINS. She was the daughter of Mr. Samuel COLLINS, who died a number of years ago, and her mother, Mrs. Rebecca COLLINS, survives her, and is a resident of North Galloway Street, this city. The deceased was born in Greene County on February 23, 1837, and was a resident of the county all her life of nearly 60 years. Her marriage to Mr. John H. JOBE was solemnized in August 1859. Of this union 7 children were born, 2 of whom are deceased. Those living are Geo. E., of Selma; Chas. L. and John Riley, of the well known dry goods firm of JOBE Bros. of this city; Miss Belle and H. Homer at home. Her husband also survives. She also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Wm. H., John Q., and James M. COLLINS all of Xenia. Mrs. J.D.M. STEWART, of West Main Street, and Miss Anna COLLINS of North Galloway street, this city. Mrs. Belle WILLIAMSON, wife of S.K. WILLIAMSON , of Cedarville. The deceased for many years had been a member of the first U.P. Church of this city, and lived an upright christian life, doing good deeds and winning the love and respect of neighbors and friends who will long cherish her memory. No funeral services will be held at her late residence. The remains will be brought to the home of her son, Mr. Charles L. JOBE, of East Market Street, where services will be held on Thursday morning. Owing to the illness of Miss Belle JOBE, the daughter of the deceased, who is very ill with typhoid fever, from which she has been suffering for 2 weeks past, the services will be private. Debbie I have no connection with the JOBE surname. I found this obit and thought it might be of interest to someone on this list. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! 3. Freida, ENR stands for Enrolled. So, it would be Provost Enrolled Missouri Militia. From what I read, they were volunteer Union forces loosely organized by local and state officials in 1862 and 1863. A brief history is at http://www.geocities.com:0080/CollegePark/Quad/6460/CW/s/EMMhist.html . Hopes this helps and answers questions instead of raising more.
