    1. [JOBE] Thanksgiving Day Prayer
    2. The following was sent to me by a cousin, and I wanted to send it on to you. Freida The beginning words of a Thanksgiving Day prayer by Peter Marshall, Chaplain of the U.S. Senate, 11/26/47   Our Father in heaven, if ever we had cause to offer unto Thee our fervent thanks, surely it is now, on the eve of our Thanksgiving Day, when we, the people of this Nation, are comfortable, well-fed, well-clad, and blessed with good things beyond our deserving.  May gratitude, the rarest of all virtues, be the spirit of our observance.

    3. and a SPECIAL THANKS for those of you who sent us just that 'small piece of information' that you had (maybe just your grandparent's names, a census, marriage, Bible record, etc) - but it tied in a miscellaneous chart of several pages! It is ALL OF US working TOGETHER that makes this endeavor a success! and like Freida says - This is definitely a LABOR OF LOVE for our family, our friends! Please remember no piece of information, if we don't have it already, is too small!!! Though we had Thanksgiving in October in Canada - I'm still a southern girl at heart and Wish you ALL the best and we do have much to be Thankful for!! Warren, just interested - is Thanksgiving in October or November in Australia?? By the way, do we have any subscribers to this list that live in a country besides U.S., Canada or Australia?? 3. Hi All, I just wanted to make a comment on the excellent site for the Quaker meetings that Ann and Frieda have set up. Please remember that Friends (Quakers) did not speak the "civil" names of the months since those were taken from pagan sources. They always spoke of the month by number. Thus before the New Dating, March was the first month. This can cause a lot of confusion. Later (was it 1752?) when the date change took effect with January starting the year, First month became January. My mother and grandfather were Quakers, although they are not in my JOBES line. Interestingly, some of my mother's ancestors probably attended Chester Monthly meeting. (Now if I could just link my JOBES there at the same time!!) Happy Thanksgiving to all. 2. Fran, I need to clarify here that Ann and I did not set this up. Our sites were picked up by the gentleman who does the pages there. This was a complete surprise to us, if I did not get their website update email, we would not have known it. Ann is having a early Xmas, she tells me they have 20 inches of snow at her place now and it is still snowing. They have gotten this in a 24 hr period. Let's hope they don't get anymore. She will be snowed in for sure! I want to wish all my Jobe family a warm, happy and safe Thanksgiving and hope you get to spend it with family. My husband and son have to work, so I will spend the day watching movies, wrapping Christmas for my grandkids and getting ready for my trip home to Kansas on the 19th of Dec for two weeks. Happy Holidays All ! Leon and Freida in NM

    1. Re: [JOBE] Arkansas Marriages, 1851-1900
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Hi Judi, Just answering for Freida as I'm going through these also. This database includes: "This database is a collection of marriage records from Cleveland, Craighead, Crawford, Hempstead, Pike, Pope, Union, Washington, White, and Yell counties between 1851 and 1900 (this update adds the records of Cleveland, Craighead, Union, and White counties). Taken from microfilm copies of original county documents, " As you can see Randolph Co., ARk is not included in this database. Also, some are 'lost' because of spelling errors, Handwriting misread, and just may not have been microfilmed for whatever reason! As you can see they are adding more databases al the time as this one included 4 more counties from what they had before - so maybe in time it will show up! We hope so! Meanwhile, if anyone knows there is a marriage in a particuliar county and it doesn't appear on my state pages as of yet, please write me personally at [email protected] with any known facts (page #, spelling as appears on record, etc) and I'll see that it gets posted. In the last little while, I just updated 5 states for marriages! Got snowed in today so decided to update some more pages! Hopefully later on today, I'll get the 1910 PA census updated! Ann > > I cannot understand why these people don't show up. They are listed in > Randolph Co. marriages. > > > Judi > Seaside, OR > >
