    2. No probalem .....<grin> So....you think my Thomas wouldn't have come to the wedding ? (the cad) Do you have any idea at what point in time he was no longer a "Friend"? I had assumed it would have been when he married outside the Quaker church allegedly in 1740 in VA (Shenandoah Valley ??)...but perhaps it was sooner than that. 2. Thank you Charlotte....that's good to know. Oddly enough, another one of my ancestors was a Church Warden in VA...now I know what church wardens did I need to go get copies of some of those church records and I'll be able to see what his handwriting looked like. And thank you for all your good work. Frieda tells me that you descend from Thomas Job too. Do you think the Thomas Job who attended the 1730 and 1731 weddings was ours ? malinda * Charlotte wrote: > On these early records, the church warden recorded all these, so the > handwriting is his...same with old land records, the court clerk was > writing a copy into the court books, a copy of the original which I > guess folks kept in those days...so the signature you see is just a > copy of those that attended the wedding and not really their > signatures, but in the hand of the church warden...probably the same > with the certificate i.e. this is just the church record and the > couple probably kept the original... 3. On these early records, the church warden recorded all these, so the handwriting is his...same with old land records, the court clerk was writing a copy into the court books, a copy of the original which I guess folks kept in those days...so the signature you see is just a copy of those that attended the wedding and not really their signatures, but in the hand of the church warden...probably the same with the certificate i.e. this is just the church record and the couple probably kept the original... 3. Everyone! I would just like to say, if we didn't have the best surname site on the web - we're sure on our way now!! Special thanks to Freida and Charlotte! They have done one TREMENDOUS JOB and the three of us have really worked as a team - but we do need MORE TEAM PLAYERS!!!! >G< If you don't have a scanner or access to one, if possible, maybe you could mail a copy to Freida - please write her personally about this. We're especially looking for any documents that anyone can scan or get to us for the first 3 generations of Andrew Job, Jr's family - children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to add to the ones that we have up at this time. Eventually we hope to expand the site to include 2nd gt grandchildren and so forth! I do know Freida has lots on her Enoch and I have several on my Oregon Co., MO Jobe lines to add in the new year! Please see the index that I prepared (link below) as I'm sure that it will answer many of your questions - such as How do I enlarge image, How can I get a copy I can print off, how do I find out how someone is connected to my own particular branch, How do I know what is there without going through everything?? All of these questions are answered on the index. As Freida adds a new image that is scanned and sent to her - I'll add it to the index! Randy - another one of OUR DREAMS is actually coming true!!!! These links also now appear on the main Jobe links page (as all links do that are connected with our family) http://members.tripod.com/~ajobebrown/Jobe.html So if you only want to bookmark one page - the link page above is the one to bookmark!! Actual Album of online documents > website address http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4293282419. > Index I prepared for the album (hopefully answers everyone's questions) >G< > Jobe Family Index</A> address > http://members.tripod.com/~ajobebrown/Jobefamilyrecords.html P.S. Please REMEMBER my index page will be going into MANY SEARCH engines and I'm sure that many of the county/state pages and other personal pages will soon have links up to this new site!!! We will be getting a lot of exposure in the next few weeks!! Ann

    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Well I was looking for something for Freida and found a piece of paper with information that I couldn't identify before. This has to do with the Henry Job that Charlotte mentioned on the list earlier today - s/o Henry Job Sr and Elizabeth Miller and gs/o Andrew Job and Abigaiil Miller and gt gs/o Archibald 'Arch' Jobe and Margaret Rees. This is what I had on a piece of paper - which I wrote back around 1970: ------------------ Jackson Co., MO Henry Job - died intestate Adms. John Christian and Madison ?Walrund, 10 Feb 1849 Sec. James Smart & Oliver Caldwell Heirs - mother, 1 sister and 1 bro. in state of VA and 1 bro in state of Ohio (H-277) ----------------------- We now know that this Henry Job, Jr. had NO Heirs of his own - probably not married, his father Henry Job, Sr. died before Feb 10, 1849, mother (Elizabeth Miller Jobe was still living - I have that she died Feb 1865), a sister was in VA and the brother in Ohio (actually Jefferson Co.) is indeed John. Do any of the above names of Administrator or security mean anything to anybody? Ann
