    1. Re: [JOBE] Re: A Happy New Year
    2. May 2001 be the year that you hoped 2000 would be back in 1999. James Lee Jobe - ------------------------------------------- Wild Geese MARY OLIVER You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting — over and over announcing your place in the family of things.

(especially this entry) http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=lised&i d=I41 I don't have any 1870 Tippah Co., MS census Jobe records on my page as of yet but do have 1870 mortality schedule records. If you or anyone does have any 1870 census records for Jobe, could you please send them to me so I can add to my page. I'll also put your name and e-mail address next to it. Lise, Could this Sarah Jobe, age 11, below be the Sarah D. Jobe from the first marriage of Presley Denwood Jobe to Mary Parks? The 1860 census shows her as being 8 months old - so the age is about right and especially if her father is on the 1870 census. Anyone have any idea who John W. Jobe, age 7 might be? 2. Patti Jobe
    3. How interesting! I had read about that new book--also read an article about the author, and how he came to write the book, etc. I'll have to get a copy. Yes, since it was spelled Jobe, with an 'e', makes you think there was a Jobe in the tree somewhere. Maybe we'll find out...... Patti Jobe Oklahoma Ira Hayes, US Marine, was one of the six photographed raising the second flag on Iwo Jima. Three of these marines died on Iwo Jima. The other three were treated as heroes upon their return to the United States. Ira was a Pima Indian raised on the Reservation in Arizona and in 1955 died a tragic death in a ditch on this same reservation. His mother was Nancy Hayes and his father was named Jobe Hayes. Has anyone any information as to the lineage of Jobe Hayes? I am reading a book "Flags of Our Fathers" written by James Bradley, the son of one of the flag raisers. Jack Bradley, his father, was a U. S. Navy Hospital Corpsman serving with the Marines on Iwo Jima and was awarded the Navy Cross for an act of heroism (seperate from the flag-raising) during that engagement. Any way I was curious when I read of the father of Ira Hayes. Every time I have seen Jobe as a given name there has been a Jobe in the family somewhere. Roy Jobe Sulphur Springs, TX

    3. Does anyone know of a Lisa Jobe Carmack who wrote a children's book called Phillipe? It's an adorable book about a frog named Phillipe who ends up living in Monet's garden in France. My mom got it for my 5 yr old and we were just curious about who the author is. According to the book jacket, she's a transplanted Texan who was living in Massachusetts when the book was published in 1998. Lorelei

    3. After much thought I have decided to go with an ad at the top of my tripod pages instead of the pop up ads. They now have where we can custom it - at least a bit so we do have a bit of control. Also for those who want there are two links : E-mail page to a friend Let me know when page is updated These two links can also come in handy and you can use at your discretion. But most of all - those pop ups (a real nuisance) will no longer be there! This will affect the Jobe Links page and ALL the state pages and others that I have on Tripod.
