    3. Links on the main Jobe Links page http://members.tripod.com/~ajobebrown/Jobe.html that have been updated in the last week include: 1) Andrew Jobe Jr Researchers 2) Mississippi Marriages 3) 1880 TN Census 4) 1910 Missouri Census 5) 1920 Missouri Census 6) Jobe Twigs updated yesterday 7) Freida's scannings of Job/Jobe Original Records 8) My index page for the scannings 9) Quaker Dates page If you're not on one of the researcher's page, you really SHOULD BE! This is my main contact list and how I keep everyone straight! When something new, exciting or major corrections are discovered - I use this list to notify those involved. Know sometimes, you might wonder WHY certain state pages seem to get updated more often than others - well the answer is in the researcher's pages! For example - just look at the researchers that we have under Enoch Job (gs/o Joshua Job) and the ones that we have under Nathan and Jacob Job (s/o Caleb and Barbary ?). These include Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky mostly! Don't forget if you see a census, marriage, cemetery record while researching your lines - please copy ALL Jobe for us! Also, if an obit appears in your local paper with a Jobe in it - please forward to me or better yet post to the Jobe Obit Gen Connect Baord! Remember we are a TEAM! Ann (Jobe) Brown P.S. I'll be leaving to go to Texas very early on March 2nd and returning late on March 16th (to visit my mother) - but do hope to get some time in at the archives in Ft. Worth and some visits to Ft. Worth library. Main goal is to finish transcribing the soundex for 1900 and 1910 Missouri. For 1900 Missouri, I've only got as far as Reuben when it comes to heads and for 1910 as far as the Q's - so still quite a few missing here. (I will be checking my mail occasionally while in Texas from my webmail box (same address) - but will not be posting anything new until I return. I will stay subscribed to the Jobe list while away - though will cancel some of my lists for the two weeks. >grin< Also, hoping to have at least one more update on Jobe Legacy and Jobe Branches next week and to get some more state pages updated before I leave. I have quite a few things to add to some of the pages!

    2. Patti Jobe
    3. I got this from a friend today--and also heard it on the news tonight--AND got it in my email, too--goodness! I saw the subject line "Dottie Doyle * City Clerk", and saw it had an attachment. I checked to see what the attachment was (without opening) and it said it was a jpg.vbs of Anna Kournikova. The body of the message only said "Hi--check this!", so right away I figured it was a virus........then my friend's msg came thru warning about it. Sure is a sneaky thing for anyone working on genealogy! Seeing something like that, supposedly from a city clerk, could make a lot of people open it up! How despicable...... So, be on the lookout for anything like this. 1. Re: Andrew Job, Jr. (1650-1722) - Tavern Keeper, Surveyor, Sheriff,Member of Assembly
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. Randy, If you're still reading the messages, I could use some help on this one. >smile< Malinda, first of all we have a lot of UNANSWERED questions and we really don't know too much about Andrew Job, Sr. and what he was doing all these years. Sure wish we did! We do know that Andrew Job, Jr. was a very educated man - but exactly when and where he went to school - we just don't know for sure. But due to him being a Quaker, we are quite certain that it had to be somewehre in Great Britain. I know that some of the early researchers believed that Andrew Jr returned with the famous Quaker leader after he made his famous speeches and tour of the colonies - I believe it was Fox, but could be wrong here without looking it up. Though Bill used the dates of 1675-1690, I would venture to say that it was BEFORE 1682. Also, remember that Andrew Job Jr. didn't marry until he was 42 years old. The big thing is that BEFORE 1691, there is very little records available. What LITTLE information we have on Andrew Job, Sr. is mostly from the records of Gilbert Cope, who was the authority on the earliest Quakers in America. Since most of the written data that we have discovered starts in the 1691 time frame, when Andrew Job, Sr. was 71 plus and Andrew Job, Jr. was 41, it is easy to see that the Andrew Job is JUNIOR and not SENIOR. There just wasn't too many 70 - 80 year old men running around doing the things that Andrew Job, Jr was doing! (surveying, sheriff, member of assembly, tavern keeper, talking to Indians, etc). In fact, there just wasn't too many 70-80 year old people even living! So I have to imagine about this time when all the records were being written (1790 onward until Andrew Sr died) that he was being taken care of by some family members - possibly Andrew and Elizabeth or another child. At this time in history, the elderly usually lived with family members. I would imagine that Andrew Job, Sr. was a man of some prominence. WE just don't have the documentation to PROVE it at this time. We have found no records YET of any of the other sons going back to England to study - though this is possible. If you should find anything, please let us all know. >grin< As for your last question, I'll have to leave that to Randy or someone who has studied the Quakers in England - their flight and migration! AT this time, we do not know exactly when Andrew Job Sr. became a Quaker. I believe the Quaker Faith started in 1640's when Andrew Sr would have been in his early 20's. Andrew SR. probably served in the Kings army before he became a Quaker. Now as for other descendants of Andrew Job who have been known to go back to Great Britain, we have found one and this was rather recently. Check Scannings #46 and #47 on Freida's online Jobe Records site http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4293282419 This was Jacob Job (1773- sometime between 1825/1834) - s/o Daniel Job and Mary Brown and gs/o Thomas Vernon Job. It shows where he left Nottingham Monthly Meeting and went there due to ill health. This was in 1802 when he was in his late 20's - but we do know that he returned to Pennsylvania. Would be interesting to know where he went and if he visited anyone! Anyone find out - let us all know! 1. Enoch Job Pension Records
    2. Good Evening all, As promised I have now added the Pension records for Enoch Job, Jr to the Jobe Family Record Website. http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4293282419 These came out really well, and even tho I do have other documents from KY and TN that take place before these do, I wanted to keep all the Rev. War papers together, Now I have a land record for Green Co KY that was are pretty sure is ourt Enoch Job Jr. so I will add it before adding the Tennessee records as it is dated 1799 and he went to Warren Co after he left KY. Then I will proceed with the church records from Missouri and finally the bible record that Sarah sent to Washington when she filed for widow's pension showing his death date. I will then begin adding documents I have of his children, which I do have several of. It will be an on going process and will take several days, just keep watching for my messages, I will tell you when something has been added so you can view it. Have a great week all! Freida

    3. Thanks again for posting the township map, Charlotte. I wouldn't say the other one is "better" though. I happen to prefer the handwritten, original documents whenever I can get them. Of course, having the "translation" to go with it is great too.Looking at Ann's website , I came to realize that these were Andrew Jr's lots since the survey occurred in May, 1702 and Andrew Sr died Jan 1699... (as well as the narrative pointed it out....<grin>) I have a question for Ann though.....how can you tell whether everything that is attributed to Andrew Jr in his early days was really him ? What was Andrew Sr doing ? Wasn't he creating any records ? Seems to me that if he were able to send a son back to England to be educated, then he was probably a gentleman of some prominence and education himself. Wouldn't he be playing an active role in the community as well ? In looking at the Chronology for Andrew Job Jr, I couldn't tell exactly when he was supposed to be back in England studying, but the item appears under the 1675-90 timeframe and that sounds a bit late for someone who was born in 1650. Also...do you know which school Andrew Jr was sent back to, and whether any of the other sons were also sent to England to matriculate ? Just wondering....malinda Oooops.....another thing I wondered about as I studied the Andrew Job Jr website below was the premise (not mentioned there, but I've seen it) that Andrew Sr was from Fishguard Wales...clear on the other side of England from Kent...but....very convenient to the port at Bristol as well as Landsend. It would make no sense whatever to trek across the breadth of southern England in order to catch a boat that was going to have to come right back by your starting point...any ideas about that ? * Charlotte wrote: > http://members.tripod.com/~ajobebrown/JobeAndrew.html > > Well, after I sent that link through...Freida sent me the following link to Ann's page, this has a better version of that map and gives the history of Andrew Jobe...I've not stopped to figure out which is which yet...<g>.. > > Char<br clear=all><hr>Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at <a href="http://explorer.msn.com">http://explorer.msn.com</a><br></p> > > ============================== > Create a FREE family website at MyFamily.com! > http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=RWLIST2

    1. Archibald Jobe - Deborah Gordon (Ohio)
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. With the help of an Ashmore - Gordon researcher, I've just discovered a mistake that has been passed down! Archibald R. Jobe (s/o Thomas Rees Jobe and Sarah Simmons) DID NOT m/1 Deborah Ellen Gordon. It is CORRECT that this Archibald Job(e) did marry Ellen Ellis March 10, 1856 Highland Co., Ohio and he is on 1850 Highland Co., Ohio census with his parents. HOWEVER, we also have an Archibald T. Jobe born 1833 in Massie Twp, Warren Co., Ohio who married Deborah E. Gordon June 18, 1851 Highland Co., Ohio. This Archibald T. Jobe was s/o James Jobe and Martha ? of Warren Co., Ohio. I'm in the process of putting this Archibald T. Jobe in JOBE TWIGS (with any information that I can find on him - census, etc) for now until we can identify him further. For now, please check out Leona's page at http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=gordons &id=I30 (You may have to cut and paste to get the entire url) So if we have ANYONE researching the Warren Co., Ohio Jobe family - please write me and Leona! Really would like to identify him and learn more about this James and Martha and their family. Please note that this Archibald T. Jobe did name a son, Elias, and so far the only ones I know of this name descend from Moses group. Thanks Ann (Jobe) Brown
