From: Patti Jobe Sent: Thursday, February 22, 2001 11:12 AM This was sent to me by Patti, I felt it was a good family story, so am posting. It was found on a rootsweb. MARRIED 10 YEARS WITH 19 CHILDREN by Chandra Martin I stumbled across an article that I found so fascinating I want to share it with everyone. I have no relation to the family, but perhaps someone out there will appreciate having it. There are sure to be lots of descendants. >From the ILLINOIS-IOWA-MISSOURI SEARCHER, Vol. 16 #1 Issue 53, page 25 (originally from THE NEWS-REPUBLICAN, Farmington, Iowa, April 6, 1911, but the dateline is Muskogee, Oklahoma). Married 10 Years, Have 19 Children Muskogee, OK -- Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scott of Highland, Kansas, are seeking a home in this state with plenty of land. They will need it, for although they have been married not quite ten years, they are the parents of nineteen children, all boys, and thirteen of them living. They hold the record for triplets, having five sets to their credit, and two sets of twins. All of her thirteen boys are under five years. Recently the Scotts, deciding that they must find more land, went to Alberta, Canada. They were not satisfied there and returned. On the return trip Mrs. Scott and her thirteen children all rode on one first-class ticket. At Omaha the conductor made a vigorous protest. "Madam, you cannot carry a whole Sunday School along with you on that one ticket," he said, "and you need not tell me those are all yours. You will have to pay for some of them." "The rules of this railroad provide that a child under five years may ride free, when accompanied by its parent with a first-class ticket, don't they?" retorted Mrs. Scott. "They do, but you will have to show me." Mrs. Scott dug down into her valise and brought out the Family Bible in which was recorded the names and ages of each of the children. The conductor had to give in. The mother and children occupied five double seats in the homeseekers' car and paid for only one. The names and ages of the children are: Ashbell, Archer and Austin, triplets 4 1/2 years old; Arthur and Arnold, twins, 3 1/2; Allan, Almon and Albin, triplets, 2 1/2; Albert, Albion and Adolph, triplets, 18 months; Abel and Abner, twins, 6 months. Mrs. Scott is 30 years old and her husband is only a year her senior. The mother and children are now in Highland [Doniphan County] Kansas, while the father is in Oklahoma seeking a location.

Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Dear List, I will be changing internet servers on March 1st. I am not happy with AOL and am constantly being dropped or the site locks up or can't get on at all. I received a disk in the mail for MSN for a free month, I installed it and there is NO comparison, so will be switching. Ann is in the process of changing my email address on all the main pages of her sites, and we will get it changed in Jobe Legacy as we come across it. It is a BIG undertaking and one I hope I don't have to repeat for a along time. My new address is : [email protected] Please change your address book now to reflect it. Kate Shuler, if you are on the list, I got you photos and will get them up soon. Thanks! Have a great day everyone :-) Freida Wells List Owner of Jobe-L

I just finished making a NEW state page, Oregon Death Index. Though it is linked to the main index page, I'm giving its url since it is a completely new page. http://members.tripod.com/~ajobebrown/ORdeath.html Though we know many of Noah Jobe's family went to Oregon, I was surprised to find James Berry Jobe also listed. He is s/o Luther Pipkin Jobe, gs/o Wiley Taylor Jobe, and gt gs/o Greenbury 'Berry' Jobe and gt gt gs/o John F. 'Sorrell' Jobe and Sarah Farmer. If you can identify someone, please let me know! Though I was able to idenify a few - there were many which I still can't. Ann (Jobe) Brown P.S. - Will be working on the Alabama Death Index later on. These are NEW pages and the death index ones take longer to 'create'.
