Long one....please scroll all the way down. I'm no longer on the DOUTHIT-L list, but they should see this too. Could someone please post it there also ? Happy New Year.....~malinda Elizabeth Harris <[email protected]> wrote: Cousin Jon Martin sent this for posting to the JOB-L list. Thought you guys might want to see it too. Please send any resplies to the list....Have a Happy ! ~malinda While doing Census lookups for Green, I got diverted. I find Henry Douthit b:abt 1806 NC married to Clarissa b: abt 1813 living in Davidson, NC. I have identified this as being the son of Abraham Douthit b: abt 1762 in Rowan Co., NC. Now the question. Next door to Henry and Clarissa is a Benton C. Douthit b: abt 1811 married to Paulina b: abt 1813. They have 5 children living with them. Is Benton another son of Abraham? Thanks Jon I'm not on the JOB list, but you're welcome to send this on if you want. I don't know who Benton's parents are. I have him in my files as having married Paulina ECCLES in Davidson Co. 19 Dec 1832 (bond date), and have them as parents of the following: Name: Alpha L. DOUTHIT Birth Date: 15 Dec 1833 Death Date: 7 May 1862 Burial Place: Eccles family cemetery, Clemmons NC Buried as Alpha L. Appears as Alpheus Douthit age 16 (male), son of Benton and Paulina, 1850 Davidson Co. census household 1068? He is profiled in Christopher Watford's The Civil War Roster of Davidson County, and this gives his parents as Benton and Paulina. He volunteered for military service on 8 May 1861, and was discharged on 7 Dec 1861 because of "general debility from his entire want of constitution and many symptoms of phthisis pulmonalis". Also in the Eccles family cemetery: Jincy M. Douthit, died 1830, whose husband was Stephen Douthit Willie Eugene Douthit 14 Jul 1855 - 1 Aug 1855 ---- I also have a 1999 communication from Joseph Ewald naming the children of Abraham Douthit b. 1762: Abraham DOUTHIT b 9 Mar 1762 Rowan Co, NC d 5 Feb 1828 Davidson Co, NC m [1] ca 1785 Mary Catherine STARR 1 John Jacob b 28 Apr 1786 m 9 Oct 1813 Sarah FLEMMONS/FLEMINGS 2 Mary [twin] b 8 Dec 1789 m John BRINDLE 3 Anna "Peggy" [twin] b 8 Dec 1789 4 Sarah b 25 Feb 1792 m Boswell/Basil FLEMMONS/FLEMINGS 5 Catherine b 25 Feb 1794 6 Abraham, Jr. b 24 Apr 1796 m [1] 29 Dec 1816 Valinda JARVIS m [2] Martha ALBURTY m [3] Elvira HARPER 7 Rebecca b 1798 m [2] 1805 Mary BEROTH 8 Henry b 1806 m Clarissa PEAKE 9 Eunice 10 Valinda b 1810 m Daniel ALBERTY So this does include Henry. However, I don't know if the rest of this is accurate or not. -- Elizabeth Harris [email protected] NCGenWeb project: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncgenweb/ Winston-Salem NC area genealogy: http://www.fmoran.com/
In case anyone is wondering how this fits in with the Job family. Benton and Stephen Douthitt were sons of Joseph D. Douthitt and Siner Alphonsine Clemmons amd grandsons of William 'Bill' 'Billy' Douthitt and Sarah JOB and gt grandsons of Thomas Job of Rowan Co., NC. Jincy M. Douthitt would be Jane Moore 'Jincy' Eakels/Eccles - wife of Stephen Douthitt. *As for Abraham Douthitt born 1762, he is the brother of William Douthitt (b. 1746) who married Sarah Job. Also Abraham's wife, Mary Catherine Starr is a sister to John Starr, the husband of Rachel Katherine JOB, d/o Samuel Job, Sr. and Rachel Little. *By the way, this same Douthitt family had descendants who also married into descendants of Andrew Job Jr and lived in Arkansas so this family is connected to both families in Legacy and Branches. Also the Jarvis and Alburty familiy, listed below had seveal intermarriages with the Job(e) descendants. If I missed anyone who wanted the tombstone picture, please write again. I did get 8-9 requests and sent those out immediately. Thanks to everyone for sharing and working together with this group. Ann (Jobe) Brown > > > Name: Alpha L.
