Hello all, I just saw on Fox news that a devastating fire is burming in Prince George Co., Maryland. It is the courthouse and it is a complete loss it appears on tv. It started on the roof in the old section that was being renovated. It was a huge building and it is sad to see that so many records have been lost not to mention the 100's of people that are now without a job. The county was organized on 20 May 1695 from Charles County. In my Handbook for Genealogists it does not say how far back the records start, but if it is like Cecil County where our ancestor Andrew Job. Jr. lived it will be in the 1770's. Just thought I would pass this along to all of you in case you had not seen it. From a WET Kansas! Freida
they just said that it was undergoing renovations and that ALL records and historical paintings, etc had been removed--thank God for that! A terrible shame about the building, tho.
