    1. One World Tree - explanation
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. I don't want to start a 'big conversation' on this - but I have had a few inquiries - wondering what I was going to do as I do have several very large files on World Connect - including Job(e) Legacy, Job(e) Branches, 3 Job(e) Twigs, and three or 4 small Jobes files. I've been keeping a very close watch on all of this as I get a copy of every letter that is posted to the http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=topics.rw.worldconnect&maxrows=25&dir=next World Connection Suggestion board Right now, I have NO plans to move or delete Job(e) Legacy or any of my other files from World Connect. I do understand that the World Connect Files (as they are now) will remain FREE to view by anyone. Also they will be indexed nightly, as they are done now, so my updates will still show right away and I'll still be free to update when I want. All of my files are uploaded through Roots Web and NOT Ancestry (with NO gedcom download) - though they are SEEN ON BOTH data bases and are FREE on both data bases. Just on the ancestry site, it is a bit harder (at least to me) to find where they can be seen free - but it is there. However, I actually get more mail from ones who have seen the file through ancestry than through World Connect. ALL of my links point to the World Connect File - which to me has the far-better advanced search and reports that you can make from the file. Plus the back-up feature, which I have had to use, is wonderful. The One World Tree is something that someone can subscribe to and there is a possiblity that my file (or as I'm sure at least parts of it for sure as we all know parts of can be seen in several people's files) in it. However, there is NO NEED for anyone who is working just on the Jobe family alone to subscribe to this One World Tree which is actually a 'Searching and Matching' service. My files are well-referenced with notes, census records, etc. Plus with the state pages and albums of actual records/pictures/etc that we have - well you can see what I mean. The new one world tree is basically a new search engine (with a charge) that will link names with census records, SSDI, vital records, military, court, land and other records that also appear on ancestry. And as we know - this will be beneficial for some (especially those with limited time, want a quick history of just a few people, - it is like 'paying a researcher' to do the work for you) and for others will be just problems (as I'm sure some of the links will point to the wrong people as names varied from census to census, spelling variations, and other concerns). Part of the reason for this is that some have 'complained' about the MANY duplications which appear on Rootsweb and the Ancestry World Tree. They don't have the 'time' or 'desire' to search each and every one of these trees and want to take a 'shortcut'. ****WE (the Jobe researchers) have already DONE THE WORK that this 'new computer search or One World Tree' is going to do (or try to do) automatically - linking you from a specific family member to his/her census record, marriage record, draft card, etc - IF you subscribe to this new service. From what I understand, the new One World Tree will also have a link to the files on Rootsweb or Ancestry World Tree - which will still be viewed free.
